OK so lord of skulls is in two spots, LORD OF SLAUGHTER (0-1 PER SLAUGHTERCULT) and is also a choice for the WAR ENGINE detachment as well so is it saying that one could possibly have 2 on the table?

Looking at the way it's written, it's legal to field 9 in a single detachment if you have the points. more if you take more slaughtercults. Yes, it doesn't fell right, but it's legal, unless there is some restriction i'm missing.

True, but don't forget that Lords of Skulls are 888pts, think about how many Anti tank units/models your ennemy can field to counter that, not counting his how LoW tanks/models, that are either cheaper and as much effective( Knigths) or the same price range but much more deadly(titans and stuff)

yeah you can take 9... but can you really say that one Lord of skulls is better than 2 imperial Knights?

Less HP, worse Int, comparable guns designed to kill MEQ only.

I was comming into this thread to say exactly this.
Even 1 imperial knight could make short work of a LoS with a bit of luck. 1 6 on the D table it's over 90% of the time. I3 really hurts LoS. I feel that if he were I5 he would have a better chance at being worth his points.
The only redeeming factor he's got is the Skullhurler.

You do realize that there is no limit to the number of detachments you take in an army, right? The number of Lords of Slaughter on the table is limited ONLY by the point limit you've set for the army. You can fit more detachments into a 100,000 point army than you can into a 1,500 point army. I'm not even considering an Unbound list, where you could take nothing but Lords of Slaughter.
