Assuming you aren't bound by the constraints of WYSIWYG and/or have all the bits necessary for conversion, what are some good ways to field Chaos Terminators?

I am leaning more toward power fists than swords or even lightning claws, as they all have AP3 and thus cannot so much as scratch a riptide, centurions or enemy tactical dreadnought armor. Also against most MCs they lack the strength to cause lots of wounds. This is especially true for power axes as these might seem a lot cheaper than power fists at first glance, but they dont come with that T4 insta-kill bonus and wound worse than on 2s.

Since this means I will be going last, I need better toughness. The question is - which god? Tzeentch gives me solid 4+ inv. saves which are essential when up against enemy powerfists. Nurgle gives me +1T which is great vs small arms fire, but with 2+ saves I'm not really worried about this anyway. Slaanesh seems a waste at first glance due to powerfists not benefiting from +1I, but the Icon of Excess gives 5+FNP which is great vs both small arms fire and AP2 weaponry.

Also should I bother with heavy weapons? I feel reaper cannon and heavy flamer arent worth it compared to the heavy weapons loyalist terminators get. However, our ability to spam combi-meltas for example would mean we could take down a tank or cripple an MC upon deepstriking.

Thoughts?

I always give mine the reaper auto cannon. I like having the ability to have something that can punch Light armour from a distance.

As for mark...It depends on what armies you play against. I play against Alot of brightlances and lascannons. so tzeench is the better option, but i pick Khorne for fluff reason.

Probably, the best way is a small combi-weapon suicide team without other wargear watsoever. On the other hand, a single fist or even chainfist won't hurt.

I like to run a couple of squads of 3 with power axes and 3 combi-meltas. They deepstrike and hopefully kill a vehicle or put a few wounds on a MC and make back their 112pts. Then they are just about killy enough to force the enemy to deal but I don't mind too much if they just get killed.

cant give one terminator combi-weapon AND custom melee weapon I'm afraid. It says ONE of the following 3 options

IF I run Chaos Terminators, which I hardly ever do because they're generally awful, I do it for the combi-weapons.

5 guys, 5 Combimeltas, 2 fists, that's it. I expect them to drop in, nuke the utter living gak out of something, and then proceed to be pasted.

PS: The FAQ says that Chaos Terminators can take ANY of the following 3 options.

MoK or MoT, 3-4 dudes, 3-4 Combi-Meltas, all Power Axes. That's the way to go.
