With the awakening of some especially scary Tomb Worlds and the bone singers figuring out how to make some awfully worrisome jetbikes, I feel there's a bit too much tension in the 40k clubhouse. So let' spread some positivity! What I want to hear are the reasons you love your own army and what you love about at least three other factions. I'll start us off.

1. I love my eldar because they retain all the cool elven speed and grace of traditional elves while also having their own interesting and compellingly alien fluff. I love that they're able to take semi-supernatural weaponry with their alien dojo space elf samurai. I love that they're fast. I love that they're full of special rules that make them feel unique.

2. I love 'nids because the idea of a biomorphing, beastial, organic horde of scuttling monsters intent on eating everything you care about makes for a great bad guy!

3. I love necrons because they give my eldar a fantastic antagonist (other than Slaanesh) that ties into their mythology. I love that all of their tech is based in super-science rather than being tied into warp shenanigans. I love the tragedy and power presented in their backstory. I love that they have ties to star gods. I love that they're among the ancient astronaut types haunting the ruins of the 41st millenium.

4. I love orks. In the grim darkness of recent editions, orks remind us that we're here to be silly and have fun. Plus, their combination of swarmy boyz and powerful characters makes them a lot of fun to face. Sometimes I get beaten down, but they're one of the armies that I can most reliably have interesting exchanges with in melee. Maybe my sergeant/exarch lands a power weapon wound on that nob, but they don't drop him. Then it's a breath-holder to see if I can last long enough to (hopefully!) finish him off next round before he power klaws me into mush.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

1. I love Eldar because they look cool, were the army I started with in 3rd edition, and because I like Biel Tan the most, I plan on fielding many foot Aspect Warriors because the Guardians are protecting the craftworld itself, and if Biel Tan will see its goal, it will result from Guardians defending Rebirth of Ancient Days and the Aspects warring and reconnecting with the Maiden Worlds.

2. I love the Raven Guard because they use jump packs and planned tactics. Didn't Corax say, "We plan and we act."? They have a cool paint scheme, and I recently saw a video by Den of Imagination I think that showed a different way to highlight them.

3. I love the Sisters of Battle because Eldar Fire Dragons always did the most damage for me and meltas are awesome. The Sisters also look cool and perhaps have better bolters than marines (maybe better engineered as I had thought that only the genetically altered could fire a bolter).

4. I love the Necrons because they are metal skeletons. The irony is cool. They are metal. They are skeletons. Cool. And they have more cool stuff now. -BTW I think all of these have a nearby proximity to each other in the Segmentum Tempestus.

1) I love my SPESS MUHREENS because they are THE EMPHRAH'S FUREH

2)I love my Imperial Guard because tanks. Leman Russes, Malcadors, Macharius variants, Baneblades, Chimeras and more. To paraphrase 1d4chan: "If it exists, there is a Leman Russ made to murder the everloving gak out of it".

3)I love my Elder because they have nice models and they are fast. It's a nice change of pace from the nearly immobile Guard and the slow Spess Muhreens.

I love Orkz because hey, Orkz are just crazy.

I love my DA because they were my first army. Their fluff is awesome, their color scheme and style are great, and they serve the Emprah!

I love Daemons because they are crazy, evil little minions as likely to kill each other as they are to kill the enemy.

1- I love my blood angels because their colors are awesome, they know they are doomed to fall to the black rage, but fight on for humanity anyway fighting against their fate, because there primarch has wings :3.

2- I love my Dark Angels because of their fluff, their secrets, their Templar feel. They have no medals, no wreaths, no badge, they perform because they must. It is their duty, they do not flaunt their prowess or achievements. They are unwavering.

3- I love Imperial Guard or, as some misguided few call them, astra militarium, because they are people like you and me. They are taken from all walks of life, given 6 months training (if that) on top of what they know already, some "armor" a "laser light" and they stand against the untold horrors of the galaxy. They fight not for glory, for some Ideal, they fight because they must. They fight, and they will kick your ass.

Tyranids are dinosaur bugs, Eldar are elves and have their stupidly powerful guns, Ultramarines were available and 3rd Company fought Tyranids and Cassius created anti-Tyranid forces, Blood Angels are being attacked by Tyranids 'currently'.

But Astral Claws... In the grip of a Tyrant, converting other Chapters to sedition, taking in Renegades, Extremists, Pirates and Heretics. The fall to Chaos and the cold, cruel overlord that Huron himself is, that's a lot of really good fluff. Gives me a chance to 'fill in the gap' between Astral Claws and Red Corsairs as well, pulling from Loyalist and Chaos units to make something particularly unique on the table.

I love my Tau, because I love the idea of a Battlesuit army roaring across the battlefield aided by infantry.

I love my Dark Eldar because they allow me to play every phase of the game, and be good at it. I can take on any opponent and feel confident that I can mess them around. And nobody in my area plays DE so they never know what to expect >

I love my Harlequins because they aid my DE in playing the Psychic phase, and answer the rest of my armies problems!

1). My Imperial Guard, the only army I have continuously played in some way shape and form since I was 13 year olds. There has always been something about a standard human soldier handed a lasgun and told to go fight against Demons, swarms of Tyranids, Technologically advanced xenos races and mindless killing machines. They have to face these foes with grit, sacrifice and their tanks and trust in their own skill and a little luck to see them through. The TRUE underdogs in the 40k universe.

2). My Farsight Enclaves Pure BattlesuitTau, not only giving the Middle Finger to Etheral slave masters everywhere, but the imagery of an elite army of suits facing opponents that vastly outnumber them and emerging victorious! Growing up watching Robotech and Gundams I have always thought it would be cool if Mech Suits became a reality and with the Tau I am able to play that in some form.

I love my Necrons because I've always been a fan of skeletal hordes, whether sci-fi or fantasy based. I love seeing a horde of silver march down the battlefield, never faulting at any horror, shooting and advancing over the enemies corpses.

I love my Tyranids because of the mystery shrouding them. Where did they come from? Are they running from something? Will they ever reach Terra? And it's quite a sight to have waves of and waves of endless bugs swarming everywhere, followed by huge biotitans.

I love my Tzeentch Daemons because out of all Daemons, Tzeentch is the most mysterious. His plans being a part of his other plans, ext. Also, they're psychic power oriented on the tabletop, which is good fun, as I've always enjoyed being a mage of some sort in most games.

I love my Dark Angels because I like their green power armor with monk robes over it, I like Sammael's jetbike model (although I have yet to get one for myself lol!), and I enjoy the challenge of trying to win with an underdog army.

I love my Khorne Daemonkin because I like being able to combine scary otherworldly monsters with evil marines, and because even when my guys die, I get a boost (kinda like deathstreaks in the older Call of Duty games). Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!

I love my Tau because of their futuristic feel, and because they have the coolest weapons and vehicles and stuff of any 40k army.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I love my Guardsmen because I like it when the weaker forces fight for every inch of ground they can get against superior forces.

I love my Imperial Fists because I have a weird love for siege warfare, and I have a respect for the sons of Dorn

I love my Orks, because in the grim darkness of the far future, there are still pubcrawls!

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

I love my sisters because the surprise people get when they verse an army that is rarely seen of on the table. (though there is now three of us at my local store).

and the marines well I fell in love with Rynns World (the book) so I read more of the fluff about the Crimson Fists.

Krieg! What a hole...

Death Korps because super grim dark, and flinging explosions left and right is fun, too. Oh and the pretty models are pretty much the icing on the cake. The Hades drill, while not too good, is just hilarious and the fact they don't break is pretty awesome, too.

Scions: elite human than gets gak done, can punch marines in the face with their lasers and come out on top. Also pretty cool model, plays radically differently than the Death Korps so both armies feel very different, even if they're just human armies on the same side.

Grey Knights: Paladins who fight off the worst of humanity's fears in the universe of 40k.

Dark Eldar: My friend gave me some models... I could spend days painting the sails.

Orkz: I will never forget my days as a ork player, when you play orkz you play to see what insanity you throw at the wall sticks.

I love eldar because their entire range looks cool and their rules usually fit the fluff pretty well. Also, I'm a competitive player so 95% of my games are against cheese and eldar can cheese it up with the best of them. I also play space wolves but I can't really think of a reason to love them, especially after their most recent releases. If I hadn't had most of this stuff since the early 90s and painted to a high standard I would dump the army on ebay.

I love the Tyranids, because it feels like replaying Starship Troopers. As the Bugs. Watching a tide of gribblies overrun an enemy line is very satisfying.

I love Officio Assassinorium because they're pretty much the smallest, most elite force in the game, and because to have an assassin (or more than one) sent after you, means that the twelve men who rule the entire freakin' galaxy took time out of their day to hold a meeting about why you, specficically, need to die.... It's a "you know you've arrived as a supervillain when.." moment.

1) I love the Imperial guard because they are the only army in the game which shows true courage, true dedication. A superhuman being raised from childhood to make war with the finest equipment in the galaxy, altered to be physically unable to feel fear conversely can never overcome fear, and thus show courage. A common man or woman, given basic body armour and a cost-efficient rifle and told to hold the line against monsters of the void, post-human super-soldiers and races older than the primordial ooze on planet Earth, they will feel fear, they will overcome it or die, and even if they overcome it they may still die all the same, but they will die standing.

I also appreciate finding an armoured solution to problems; in the words of Lord Solar Macharius, "Your enemy believes he has the gods on his side. Let him believe that, we have the tanks on ours."

2) I love my Minotaurs because they represent, to a point, what the Astartes could be if not restricted by 10,000 years of dogma and power politics. The power of the Asartes is limited by the codex, their equipment limited by the parochial views of the Adeptus Mechanicus, but the Minotaurs? They confirm to the aesthetic of modern Astartes, but are firmly integrated into the Imperial system, taking their orders directly from the High Lords, equipped directly from the forges of Mars with technology though "lost" though merely hidden or restricted, and act as an unrelenting, uncompromising shock force designed to utterly annihilate whatever it is that the High Lords would desire annihilated. Apostate Space Marines with delusions of power and grandeur, unprecedented Necron awakening, whatever causes the Imperium as a whole to take notice. All of the raw power of the Legions of old, on a smaller scale but without the autonomy and delusions of superiority of purpose and value that caused the whole Heresy mess in the first place.

They're also an experiment gone wrong and then salvaged - likely traitor gene stock of some variety - Sons of Horus or World Eaters most likely given their early record, but then honed from a berserk force into a disciplined, focused, utterly relentless application of violence. Besides, who can't like a chapter which decides to smash their vast pre-heresy tech flagship into a Necron Cairn-class Tombship as a means to board it when they realize their weapons are totally outclassed?

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.
