Here is a batrep with the new Eldar codex if you want to see if it is op:

http://youtu.be/U2o7U7Dst7U

Hint:
Spoiler:
it is. The WK killed three oblits, a sorc, and a warpsmith in one turn and a sicaran and a forgefiend the next. Match was then called.

Help me, Rhonda. HA!

Thanks for sharing. Stomp attacks were fairly brutal. It seemed the Chaos player had quite a bit of unlucky rolling against the WK which further made things worse. Great report and thanks for sharing.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

love and hate those armies in the same measure....

love the theme and paint on the Eldar
hate the Iron Warriors as it made me realize I shouldn't have sold my heavily converted Iron Warriors force.

now to go back and watch the rest of the video

Were they resolving stomp correctly. I thought you placed the template and rolled once per unit under the template to see what kind of stomp it is. Not per model. I bet those oblits would have lived if it were done like I think it was supposed to be done.

It is a good bat rep none the less. Think the chaos would have been better served using sicarans against the skimmers though.

yes the stomp was not done correctly, too many dice rolled.

The wraithknight is still a beast, should b 395pts IMHO. However, I would say the Fire Prisms were just as influential is this game as anything else.

Not watched it yet (shall do after comment), but one of the worst Codex's against what is perceived to be one of the best Codex's...I can't see how Eldar can win this

Aside from the WK, it was actually a pretty tame Eldar list. No jetbikes, several of the now "okay" serpents, no wraithguard, no D artillery, no psykers...

And it still roflstomped the other list and forced a turn 3 concession. :/

Yeah, that's what I took away from it too. The entire list was tame sans the WK, which went ham.

And the Chaos list, while not uber-competitive, certainly wasn't horrible. I mean, two Sicarans is nothing to slouch at.

That said I do think that there were several factors to the Eldar curbing this match beyond the WK being a beast. The Eldar player was rolling really high for almost the entire match, for one.

It looks like stomp happened wrong, (you roll 1 dice, per template, 1 at a time and apply the result to all models under the template, then carry out the next stomp if there is one) and did most of the damage.

Stomp isn't unique to eldar, and doesn't make the eldar dex op in its own right

Good thing you didn't take the jetbikes and wraithguard. Nicely painted armies for both players though so congrats on that work in any case.

Absolutely loved the report and the armies, thanks for posting! Definitely going to check out more of your videos.

From a tactical standpoint, I would have thought going after the Fire Prisms with the Sicarans would have been a more worthwhile target priority, though I'm not sure of the range from watching the video.

Along with the stomps, wouldn't the WK have swung at Initiative 1 because he charged through difficult terrain in the ruins? I know it was all of an inch, but DT nonetheless. Could have potentially taken a few more Powerfist smacks.

Seriously he had nothing for the wraithknight. Should have tried to ignore it. I mean ignoring 3 fire prisms against marines, then calling a codex op... what do you thinks going to happen. That would've had the same result last edition.

That was not a tourney list. No one takes chaos marines. Because of what just occurred. They are over priced.

I'd only disagree that the Iron Warriors list was bad. It had pretty good shooting in a very shooty edition, and having the Rhinos to move to objectives was not a bad plan. Just needed to down those Skimmers lol.

I'd be interested to see some TAC 1000 pt lists against a single wraithknight.

Gorgeous batrep.

The CWE players dice started rolling really well on a lot of key roles.

Ultimately though this match seemed to be decided by familiarity with the opponent's army and units more than anything. The CWE player understood his opponent's army very well and stayed out of range of the dangerous stuff and left the tough and non critical units in range to tank all the firepower.

On the other hand the CSM player was obviously unfamiliar with the new CWE (of course the book is brand new). Thus he spent all his effort shooting inefficient weapon choices into the wraithknight, boldly closed with an opponent he had no answer for in melee, ignored the fireprisms which shredded him, and closed his only realistic shooting answer to the wraithknight so it got into melee with it.

BTW oblits should average 1 wound a turn on a wraithknight with lascannons, assault cannons, or TL-plasma guns. The psyker could also have taken psychic shriek which would have been a major boon against the wraithknight. I would have turtle for the first turn or two behind cover using my cultists and CSM to block the wraithknight from charging while the sicarans worked on your skimmers and the rest of the army worked on the wraithknight. Just keeping proper cover would have been a huge difference.

Say what you will about eldar cheese, the models are often some of the most beautiful I see on the table. The chaos is also incredibly sexy, and I love those battle mats!

The creepy music/camera/rain effect at the start is way cool

You are right. Anyone with CSM should not bother. Shelve your models and wait for your 7th edition codex when GW gets it correct. Seriously, they will.

Wraithknight is beastly. Stomp will not let you tie him up on CC and the Heavy "I delete everything" Wraithcannon is very effective. I can't wait to play with the new codex and also try the bikes . At least they balanced out the serpents . The Fire Prism should have been used in the formation.
Any way nice Bat rep hope we see more.

Got milk?

All I can say about painting is that VMC tastes much better than VMA... especially black...

I thought you had to place the stomp templates 2 inches away from the first one. Or am I wrong? Also yea it is per unit not per model that you roll on the stomp chart.

Wasn't talking about chaos marines as a codex. Talking about chaos marines as troop choices. It's my opinion that they are too expensive for what they bring to the table. But ok

And it's no secret that csm is a hard codex to make work. Let alone with 3 ap3 large blasts deleting units every turn. If your marines are going to die as easy as cultists, why not bring only cultists is what I guess I'm getting at.
