In case anyone is enamoured with the Kromlech "Stygian Noble" or "Cyber Saumrai" helmets, they are not big enough for Space Marine helmets, by like 1 size. I think they would be good heads for Cultists or Guardsmen or whatever, but for Space Marines, no. (save your 8 bucks)

Here is a comparative example. Notice how the Kromlech heads (the whitish ones) are a bit too small? Cool heads, IMO, but not big enough.

Look ok to me... And can you really get that hung up on scale here? Bearing in mind these are space marines were talking about

Grrr....they are too small for me. I'm not removed enough from reality to not know that we are talking about laughable scales on ridiculous toy soldiers, but its too small!!!

Eh. The necks might seem a little small, that's about it. The helmets in theory are somewhat bulky anyway, especially the gear on the side of the heads. It'd be fine after painting me thinks, though I'd have to see in person to figure out if I'd mix regular marine heads in with those heads. I probably wouldn't if I was buying those heads, I'd probably be using them for the whole army.

Nothing wrong with those at all. Even if they are a bit smaller (don' look it), then that makes them more to scale given that a lot of Space Marine artwork depicts helmets being much smaller in proportion to the rest of a marine than the models do.

Yeah, they are out of scale with the regualr GW sprue heads and its driving me ape$h!t to look at them, it is not a good mix in person. I'm going to put these Cyber Samurai heads to the side and continue with CSM heads for this project I'm on.

Look good to me, I can see what you mean about them being a little small, and maybe if bigger ones were available they would look even better. But they are still a cool customisation.

They seem fine to me.

They need to make them a little bigger, at least so the samurai's helmet rests well outside of the head-well,if that makes any sense.

I think they may look a little larger in the photo than they actually are...or I have lost it, and am spending my time eyeballing miniscule measurements that mean nothing in the grand scheme of things..

Cheers!

I think you're just kinda stuck on the gw spaceballs head mentality tbh. They LOOK fine & may well LOOK better when painted. SM helmets are way larger than they should be & even then compared to the SM bare heads they're still too small to fit (believe me, I've tried hollowing one out & it nowhere near fits). I mean it's your hobby & at the end of the day you have to be happy with it so YMMV but I think you're worrying over minutiae.

Now where I'll agree there are scale issues is with the combat armor arms. The hands are about the size of sm hands & these are for guardsmen!

I would have to agree that when mixed with the bog-standard SM heads, it looks wrong. If the entire squad were equipped with them, it wouldn't be so bad. But judging by the size, I would say they would be better suited for customizing IG, Scions, and Skitarii models.

They would be too big for IG who are top heavy enough with their standard sized heads. Maybe just use them for stern/van guard?

These are actually meant to be Noise Marines. The guys on the left are CC Bolter Noise Marines, the unit is injected with FNP-inducing meds by the guy in the middle (Icon of Excess), the two guys with the Samurai heads are meant to be a Blastmaster and Sonic Blaster-equipped Noise Marines, and the guy on the far right is the Noise Champion with a Doom Siren. I wanted the Marines with Sonic Weapons to stand out as slightly more Elite, so that's why I got the heads, but I don't think they look well in comparison to the GW heads when they're together, so I'm going to try and get some "horny" CSM heads from a friend and see if that does the trick.

All this to say, I won't have any Stern/Vanguard Marines. Maybe I'll use these Samurai heads for a squad of MoS Chosen, instead.

They don't look off to me judging from the picture.

Well, you know, maybe I will give it a go.

The Sonic Blaster marine will be in a unit of other Sonic Blasters, and 2 Blastmasters, all of which would have the Samurai heads, so that will probably make them look more uniform.

And these regular Bolter/CCW Noise Marines will get 2 Blastmaster marines. I could just use the largest heads available in the CyberSamurai blister for those (2 of the helmet sculpts, including the one pictured on the left, are slightly larger than the rest).
