Hey all, I'm just going to leave this press release here.
Clockwork Armada, by Game Fleet Productions, is now live on Kickstarter. Clockwork Armada has been heavily influenced over the past few years by the input of BGG members, and we are excited to show our work.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1108024882/clockwork-armada
Clockwork Armada uses highly detailed resin and pewter miniatures to represent the ships of its fleet, available at discounted prices during the Kickstarter. Backers will have the choice of many different variant ship classes with their pledges.
A game of Clockwork Armada takes place between two or more players, who each take control of a fleet of warships and use different strategies to acquire victory points to win the day. A unique Course Ruler allows players to maneuver their ships with precision, and a player must pay attention to the constantly moving nature of the game, lest they find their ships out of position.
Combat in Clockwork Armada is resolved by an intuitive single roll dice system, and a convenient full color stat card is used to track damage and lost weapon systems. Player's may issue Special Orders to push their ship's performance past normal operating levels at the risk of permanent damage, and a fleet's Flagship commander may impart benefits through the use of Directives to the ships around it.
The universe of Clockwork Armada is nothing like our own. Fleets of warships sail between flat worlds on the upward rushing winds of space, and the laws of physics operate on entirely different principles.
Game Fleet has much more planned for Clockwork Armada, and looks forward to revealing more about the gameplay and setting in the coming week

I'm not being hyperbolic, after a few years of keeping this mostly to myself, those words of affirmation send endorphins to my soul.

Gutsy premise, just ignoring physics.
But those are pretty ships.

Legendary Master of the Chapter

I can't explain why, but I love the Carthesian fleet while hating the moren fleet, except for their adorable escorts. I will try to make a small pledge, since MEdge is taking my dollars this month, and then swing back around for the retail. Automatically Appended Next Post: The artwork is amazing, though. Might pay more for a collection of it in pdf or rule book form. Automatically Appended Next Post: Critical question: is communication officer the only pledge that comes with a pen? Or are you sending pens to everyone? If I pledged privateer, would I get a pen?
Don't leave us in the dark about the pens! Automatically Appended Next Post: What about glossy business cards?

LOL, you seem conflicted Bob.
The plan is to send a pen with each Comm Officer pledge. I had a good amount of pens left over from a convention and I so I thought 'instead of just sending folks a letter, I can send them a nice pen too!'
I'm glad you think you will get a chance to get it at retial. We are currently on track for daily pledges, and I've been spending about 16 hours a day trying to play catchup. But do to personal reasons, I had to cold launch without any pre-promotion, and there is stiff competition.
So the big giant to slay is just getting eyes on it, people seem to like it once they see it, and I have a lot more to show on it. Any pledge helps, and any passing of the word helps, so thank you very much for either

Treasure Planet and Last Exile were certainly influenced. For people who have seen the latter, I tell them to imagine that space is a bit like the Grand Stream.

The concept art looks really nice, and the I like the overall aesthetic quite well. I do wish you had some more painted pictures up on the KS page, and hiring a professional painter might not be a bad idea. With such finely detailed models it is a shame not to have them shown off!

In hindsight, I would have hired a professional. I'm grateful for the good work a friend of mine did on the ships, but the color choices do mute some of the details. Basically, everything on the renders comes out in the model. Part of the fault is in the prototypes, whose details came out too fine to be visible under a layer couple layers of paint. Ah I can't wait to get the production models going!

If you still have a prototype floating around, or a resin cast of it or something, you might be able to just slam a wash over it to show off some of the details. I think on tiny little ships like that, people are really going to want to see that the detail is there.

Backed this one! Looks pretty cool. The aesthetic definitely has a JRPG/Anime feel to it for me.

Love the BFG comparison pics in your first update! I've been keeping an eye on this, and really like some of the things you've done here.
I definitely prefer the look of the Morens - they seem to have more detail on the physical models, as the guns on the Carthesians are much smaller and don't stand out as much (but that could also be a bit of the painting effect).

Just got my 48 Hour Notice on this one, checked it out and was shocked to see how far away from their funding goal they still are!
What happened - or didn't happen - here?
