Saw that in much older 40K books it was "Waaargh!" and now it's "Waaagh!"

Is there a right way to pronounce this?

Pronounce it the same way the biggest Ork does.

As GW headquarters is in Nottingham, England it therefore is only appropriate to pronounce the Ork war cry with the local accent.

Which funny enough is the same sound the Game Designers make when they catch their nuts in their zippers. Seriously they can't do anything well.

It's obviously meant to be 'War!' right? That mini war gaming guy says 'Warg' which makes me want to punch the screen.

Waaagh, huh? yea. Wot is it good foh? Absolutely nuffink innit.

The 14-17 year old crowd around me say "waaag". Just don't say it that way. It'd be like saying "zee-lot" instead of zealot.

You can pronounce it
Waaaagh
Waaargh
Waaaaag

or any combination of those if you feel like it, the only requirement is that when you call your waaagh every one in the game store and the two stores to either side need to shoot their heads up and look around and say as a collective "WHAT THE F*CK WAS THAT!"

And of course the 1-3 other Ork players will nod their heads in approval.

I come in peace. I didn't bring artillery. But I'm pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you mess with me, I'll kill you all

ROFL I've watched the occasional batrep where the players do yell it out when they call the Waaaaaagh! Pretty neat little tradition, I don't see myself doing that unless I have about 4 beers in me at least lol. Maybe, I'll see, I do want to get as much of their lingo down pat to add a little colour to the game. Most of which draws from DoW game. I've heard in scenematic scenes huge mobs of boyz doing their Waaaaagh! call. Always in each when it reaches the end I don't hear no R and no G at all. I assume something is in there but it's such a large chorus that I suppose it gets lost in the overall din. So I'll go with Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! but the gh is silent and I assume they are all screaming War.

The G isn't silent, but it's usually enunciated after the listener has gone deaf.

I always assumed it started "WAAAAA" and then ended in a snarl.

It's War without the "r" sound.

I've always understood it to be that the "G" is silent. They're saying "war" with a Cockney accent, which tends to leave the "R" sound off the end of words.

Someone I know does a Legion JFK impersonation and says:

"My fellow greenskins: ask not want the waaagh can do you for you, but what you can do for waaagh."

I prefer this method over the annoyance of people shouting in a crowded game store. Also, Dawn of War is a reference for this.
