I expected a points decrease for the previous Imperial Knights, but that didn't happen.

I had an eye out for the new Crusader in particular, the most dakka of the Knights, and it's kinda pricey at 400+ points, especially considering if you're taking it you'll probably also take more guns with it. I was hoping it'd just be under the 400 point mark, like the Errant or Crusader, just swapping out their melee D weapon for a ranged D, but that didn't happen either.

Speaking of, what do you guys think of the new Avenger Gatling Cannon? I kinda like its volume of shots over a pie plate, somehow I find it more reliable, but it's still not a D weapon. I haven't done the mathhammer yet, but with it Rending as well, with all those shots...it may perform just as well as a D weapon, I don't know.

What do you guys think of the Hurling rules? I think this is the most hilarious part. One of my friends says it was silly, this turns 40k into Warmachine, but much bigger. I don't know how effective it will be, in fact I suspect it's not that competitive, but having 3 Knight Gallants for under 1000 points just running around flipping over Vehicles like a toddler having a tantrum with toy trucks makes me lol so hard.

What do you think of the Formations? As with the Hurling Knight Gallants, the Gallant Lance Formation for you to just charge in at maximum overdrive. I'm not sure how you even give a giant walking mecha Rage, but there you have it, just adds to the lulz. The best part is...I don't even know if that makes them competitive. It just seems like a funny thing to do.

Finally what do you think of the upgrades? Do you think they're must-takes? Especially those Heirlooms of the Knightly Houses, because to get them, it's like you have to pay "tax" in the form of a formation.

The question behind all these questions is, do YOU think these new Imperial Knights give Imperial players the same competitiveness as the Eldar players? My biggest concern is, let's say we use these awesome Imperial Knight formations, then my opponent simply floors me with Swooping Hawks going Haywire all over me. Did it just render all this excitement irrelevant?

The Crusader appears to be a bit pricy for what it brings, but will require some testing before final judgement.

The Errant/Paladin/Warden costing seems fair (we shouldn't be comparing them to the WK, since everyone with a pair of braincells to rub together realises that isn't the model to benchmark balance against.

The mega power fist rules are terrible, you should be paying points to upgrade to the sword from the fist instead of the other way around, but the image of using a Leman Russ Vanquisher to beat on a squad of Guardsmen is epic. I have a dream that one day I'll be able to throw an inronclad back into the pod he just came out of and blow that up too. But then, that would require me to take the gauntlet, and I think it looks goofy in the pictures so far, so I guess that won't happen any time soon.

The Gallant doesn't impress me, but at least there's no temptation to hang back and shoot with it, and you don't feel bad about running it in the shooting phase. Besides, sometimes a 50 point discount is its own reward, and now you can spend it on effective AA.

The formations are pretty cool, though the winner at first glance appears to be the skyhunter one, since the one glaring weakness of IK is fixed in one stroke, though it is costly.

Still waiting on the relic costs, but I'm expecting them to be heavily overpriced, especially the 6++ all around and IWND ones.

Overall, appears to be a good release so far. IK will still cause problems for those that it caused problems for before, though they do have some AA protection now, so that's nice. The models look rad and they've got usable formations, relics and detachments while not being horrendouly over the top. Can't ask for much more than that (other than not releasing another pair of models and a new dex in 12 months I guess), though a haywire and/or grenade protection relic wouldn've been nice.

Still haven't decided what to build my new 5th knight as yet, though hopefully they're as easy to magnetise as the Paladin/Errant were.

That reminds me, I still need to hunt up a 1:24 scale Madcat for the lulz now that I can have 2 arm weapons, 2 stubbers and a top mounted missile rack... Maybe then the Mailed Fist of House Steiner would have something worthy to fight instead of picking on infantry and vehicles?

Too bad the Crusader can't have two of the same arm weapon, or I'd do one up in black with a red hourglass, and call in Widowmaker.

I'm pretty underwhelmed by the competiveness as compared to...recent events. I think their price points are in the "tough but fair" category. Crusader is reaching pretty far out there though.
