Hi just trying to work out which rules i need to use for my forge world warp hunter and the hornets

Do you use the new codex for the d-flail distort and use it as strengh d and have ++5 for holo fields

Or use the old rules for distort and +1 to cover saves for holo fields

Or old rules for distort and new ++5 for holo fields
Any help would be brilliant cheers

Holo fields would be the newest rules. Not sure about weapon.

Depends on if the rules reference the Eldar dex.

If they do, like Corsair Outcasts, they use the new book.

If they don't, like Corsair LasBlasters and Shuriken Catapults, then they use the rules provided in-book.

They do reference the eldar codex ,but there is now no rule for distort ,it just list weapons under a distortion heading and they have a strengh d .to make things more unsure there is now a new rule for d-sythes distort but again no rule for distort ,which is why im wondering how to handle the warp hunter now ?

I would say the easiest way is to take what you can from the new codex (Holo-fields) and use the old rules for what is no longer in the new codex (Distort).

Alternatively come to an agreement with your opponent however you like/are able.

Unfortunately the rate at which game-workshop puts out new rules and the rate at which forge-world either updates or puts out companion rules is leaving some fairly large comparability holes in a lot of forge-world products. The need to discuss FW stuff before a game is no longer just a matter of politeness, its often needed to fill those holes with house rules and I don't see that divide shrinking any time soon.

Technically the Imperial Armour books would probably reference codex:Eldar opening up the whole debate about Codex: Craftworlds.

well yeah, there is the whole issue of the forgeworld book probobly saying something like "The Warp Hunter is an heavy support choice is codex: Eldar". Since Codex eldar is no longer a valid codex the unit's datasheet would no longer be valid but I assume we are ignoring that.

I was looking at this today for my Eldar Firestorm.

For most rules, wargear and weapons, it's simply a case of using the latest version, such as Skyfire for my Firestorm. Holo-fields translate pretty easily too.

However, the sting in the tail is that the points cost for Forge World model options remain those listed in the sourcebook. For my Firestorm, the Holo-field still costs 35pts, as written in the most recent sourcebook for the Firestorm, Imperial Armour Aeronautica. That's pretty steep for a 5++!

Officially codex craftworld makes no mention of them so the d canon on warp hunters are still str 10

That is officially.

House rules dictate this changes to a more common sense approach of "d as in eldar codex" and holofields are now as in eldar codex

I'd use the new D-Rules, and following the example of blast/template D weapons, I'd say it should work with a -1 to the table. Likewise, I'd let it buy the holofield (5++) for the cost listed in the new book.

If you think about it, 165 gets you 3 D-Cannons, more durable, hit harder, less range. 145 gets you a warp hunter, more range, mobile, less durable, slightly cheaper, and slightly less effective firepower.

Seems fairly balanced compared to other eldar D shots.

I would ardently and most strenuously 100% disagree that warp hunters are the "minus 1 D" profile, heavy d scythes (on their nearest analogous weapons platform, the hemlock) are D-1 but they are in pairs and on a cheaper platform.

No doubt about it the warp hunter is D template no cover save in torrent layout
