You know you see those things in the games workshop webstore that don't need to exist other then for conversions?
.http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Thieving-Grots
.http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Imperial-Guard-Crew

You think these kind of things need a separate webstore?

(I edited this from actually listening to some of you people. Thats something I don't do a lot)

Yeah because how dare people want interesting or different things in their armies and collections.

I was kinda pissed off for a moment when the Trukk Boyz dissappeared. I'm scooping things in packages as much as possible due to my isolated location and high delivery costs if I bought it all piecemeal. Trukk Boyz recently returned. I'm getting Goff Rockers for my diorama I plan on building and painting as an overall display in-between games. Thieving Grots are also a must for this but they can also proxy in a pinch as extra 'grots and squigs equipment'. Trukk boyz, hands down, will be bought by me (probably 6) and used in games as well as display. Nothing useless about em.

What's wrong with the regimental advisors? Those are actual, useful models, that's the astropath, master of ordnance, and officer of the fleet. And they can double as plenty of other stuff too. Kept trying to find that blister at my LGS, didn't want to pay the shipping. And there were actual rules for IG vehicle crews at one point.

Except for some of their more ridiculous looking flyers, I don't have a problem with GW's model range, regardless of whether they're useful. Plenty of 3rd party companies make money selling people replacement wheels, shoulder pads, heads, etc.

No, my problem has always been with the ruleset.

This thread shouldn't exist. You have no soul man, no soul. I can't imagine the rage you'd feel if you ever seen what GW have done in the past. Chaos Toilet? Drunken Dwarves? Kroot Bird? Davinite Lodge Priest? Enough to make you loose it.

With allied Riptides. And was possibly in diapers when I began playing and those Goff Rockers first came out.

Nothing wrong with any of those, save for perhaps the Trukk Boyz set which appears to be simply a trukk kit and an Ork Boyz kit bundled together, which may be slightly redundant. Unless it offers some discount or advantage over buying separately?

I wish GW still did goofy releases like those Goff Rockers.

I have taken Trukk boyz and regimental advisers of because they are actually useful. Goff rockers are cool but have no rules so are useless, thieving grots have no rules and are useless, IG crew are good to have manning artillery but should come packed so are useless, Is anyone getting my point here? No?

Eldar are useless pansy's and for your information, I paint all of my models carefully. In fact I just painted a Death Company dreadnought for my friend.

You know what I think is useless?

Codex dark angels codex blood angels codex space wolves codex grey knights

Space marines already have a codex twice as thick as everyone else with the factional rules everyone else deserves. Why does the spoiled-beat whiner army get 5 more?

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

No they're not. They're just begging to be put on the bonnet of an Ork Trukk or Battlewagon. Have you seen the new Mad Max film? Significant portions of the soundtrack are provided by a guy suspended by chains from a truck, playing an electric guitar with a flamethrower built into it.

Now imagine an Ork Warboss riding a Battlewagon with an Ork rock star riding on the roof playing an electric guitar that doubles up as a flamethrower.

thieving grots have no rules and are useless, IG crew are good to have manning artillery but should come packed so are useless, Is anyone getting my point here? No?

Useless to a power gamer who only cares about their possible tactical use in a game.

But to hobbyists, who enjoy modelling unique and characterful models these models are fantastic. Great for dioramas, or for adding fun little details to your models.

Most people can find a use for unique models. I'd hate it if every army had all mono-pose figures... Like Risk, or Monopoly. Boring and flavourless.

Can't you just imagine those thieving grots on a diorama? They're awesome.

OP has never lovingly converted anything in his life.

I remember one time my local GW store was having a Christmas model competition. I submitted a 40k manger scene with a converted grot as baby Jesus.

If someone kvetches and tells you that there are no Ork Females, because they're genderless fungi, tell that person that those are boob-squigs.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

You know that the grots and imperial guard crew are both just alternate sculpts for models that do have units.

Grots can be used for mek gunz, grot squads, or used as crew for any of the grot vehicles. Grots are useful in a vast array of orky purposes.

Astra Militarum Crew can be used for crew models for all of the forgeworld artillery units, sabre platforms, the models on heavy weapon teams, any unit with a heavy weapon team in it, crew for any open topped tank, and the guy with gas cans makes an excellent demolition model that will bring a smile to any opponent.

Most of the alternative sculpts can be shoehorned into the current armies with a little imagination and are what gives your army character and that little something extra.

I am a hobbyist. I am saying its useless INGAME not in the hobby. I like converting. I think the Goff Rockers on a warboss's trukk would be pretty cool. This is only for INGAME usage. If that doesn't clear this up, nothing can.

But then, I don't see the issue with their being models without an ingame purpose but are useful from a modelling standpoint?

These kits may not all have an in-game role, but even the ones that don't are great for conversions. I put the Thieving Grots all over my Battlewagon (link in sig).

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

But if they aren't needed to get rules, then each one of such things takes away the time and space GW could be spending on making stuff for the game. And who needs conversions anyway? I can understand if someone is doing commission to sell them, but they aren't needed at all for gaming. Your opponent won't even noticed them anyway.
