With this logic, you may as well just use an army of paper cutouts. Technically that's all that's needed for gaming.

Sure, but creating a pointless thread because you don't see the point in models without rules, calling them "stupid" and "unneeded" is unnecessary and juvenile.

They are not stupid, they are cool and characterful.

It's nothing to do with hatred. Of course you're entitled to an opinion, but you're not excused from the burden of being able to support and argue that opinion with facts when the thing you're expressing an opinion about isn't entirely subjective.

I can post "I like purple" and nobody can tell me I'm wrong. They can say "I disagree, I do not like purple" and that's fine too, because colour preference is an entirely subjective thing. You, however, have said "these things are useless" and other people have said "no, here are possible uses for these things" which disproves your original statement.

I'm afraid if you're going to express your views, you'll need to be prepared to defend them, and if you can't, it may be worth reconsidering them.

It's the price of making your opinion public since the public can have opinions too. I doubt anyone really hates you. People will not all agree so don't sweat it, it's not a bad thing, it's actually normal considering the variety of opinions out there.

We're just saying that someone who thinks things are "stupid and useless" might not be seeing the cooler parts of the game.

Which is understandable, because over the years GW has stripped more and more of that away, so new players do not see the same things we old grognards have seen. Believe me, new adopters of 40K have missed out on some damn cool stuff over the years- it's why we old guys are so bitter about the state of the game right now, because we all have loved and lost over the time we've played 40K.

Think about it- how cool would it be to have a mini-dex that allowed you to take actual squads of honest to god Wulfen, rampaging around in a Space Wolf army that are all actually veterans of the Horus Heresy that have been lost in the Warp all these millennia? Who couldn't take any vehicles other than bikes, and whose Rune Priest could teleport squads around the battlefield during the game? Space Wolves who are even more elite than normal repairing their armor with fallen Chaos sections? That all used to be a thing that GW killed off!

Welcome to the real world, where you don't get a free hug for every inane opinion. You may want to consider your reaction to this, and what people are saying. It might make you a better person. Or you could whine louder, the caps lock always helps for that.

Thieving Grots make amusing objective markers. The dead Ork which comes with that set I also used for the base of Commander Farsight.

So, no, they're not useless unless you only consider models with rules useful and don't intend to make characterful bases or conversions.

When it comes right down to it, every model in every range GW makes is "unneeded." No one *NEEDS* these things, they buy them because they like them and have fun with them! I have bought many "stupid, unneeded things" for my armies; Orks especially. I bought an off-brand GI Joe-scale tank and a ton of spare bits and Fantasy Snotlings to glue to it and make it into a looted Superheavy. I'll likely never play it in a game now, as the rules for looted stuff have been nerfed. Game-wise, it's useless, but I still have it and had a lot of fun putting it together.

Not sure I really understand what you mean??

It's not really technically a "conversion" when the official boxed kit is sold to be assembled that way, with a combination of Imperial marine and Chaos marine sprues in one box, with artwork to support how they are intended to be mixed. I do know that the bottom pic is the actual official GW website/kit photo from back then. Not to mention the awesome Wulfen models, and that the 13th company actually have increased statlines (and points costs) over the normal Space Wolves to reflect their official fluff in the codex.

But the horrible part is that lots of the newer people nowadays would probably think that making official models and boxed sets for a fringe force from a summer campaign and then dropping the items from the webstore only a couple years later to be wasteful, when the existing armies could be getting something more.

I'm just counting myself lucky that I started back during a time when that practice was deemed awesome, instead.

I own thieving grots. the dying/toothless ork on the ground is a great part of any larger base, and the grots diversify your grots, or add a nice element to other models.

Its the general rule of the Interwebzs, no you can not have an opinion. And hate is a default setting

On topic : I like these models, they add more to an army than what your rank and file tanks or footsloggers will ever do. And beside most people like to see variations in what you bring along to a game

No they don't, this is evidenced by the fact you are not being berated for your opinion everywhere else you post.

However i beleive that you should examine the content of your posts/threads and try to present it in a way which is not dismissive of opinions you don't agree with yourself.
I think that this thread is a clear sign that many who are into the hobby not only like these models but feel they make the whole hobby much more complete for them by adding to the 'feel' of a species or setting with a few 'pointless' models.

I regard myself as a 'fluff' player and i really enjoy seeing these models painted and on the tabletop - in fact they can make losing a unit or taking damage not so bad because of the humouros context the model creates - i have four hobbits, two jokaero and that old chaos familiar which looks like an artists mannequin with a little spiked club just, cause, y'know. :]

Now off to Siberia you are
Spoiler:

Well, actually you can, but your opinion on this is just very unpopular to say the least. First you have to understand that 40k is not just a game, it is a modelling hobby. Conversions are very important, and these models are there for that purpose.
If you make such controversial statements as you do, you have to back them up with solid arguments.
And no, we don't hate you at all. But this is the internet, and things can get rough here.
