Hi guys,

I've just finished, (well, I never finish a model, always it is uncompleted ) my first Hammerhead for my re-painted Tau army.

I know that this model could don't like to all of you because his weathering being a Tau vehicle and painted out of the GW line but, this is the style that i like

So, here you have some pics, comments are welcome:

It's excellent. You've really captured the peeling texture of weathered paint. Nice base as well.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

I think it's fantastic looking. Even a lot of the artwork of the Tau has them a bit weathered, so this fits beautifully. You've also used a very unique and eye catching color combination that will definitely leave an impression. I'd like to see what else you've got painted for this army. My own Tau is , unfortunately, still in their boxes waiting for me to start.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

The base is painted with airbrush, but it have a lot of coats of filters painted with a brush.

I'm working in a traslation of the step by step tutorial of this tank.

Wow, I'd definately like a tutorial. I too have a HHead that Im about to re-paint but in a darker colour scheme similar to the new cadians.

also, do yuo have any pictures of your other tau models ?

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time...

I've just immersed all my army in alcohol, they are now unpanted.

The next painted model will be an Apocalipse suit

Is a light coat that only changes the tone (not the color) of a model. When you apply it seems like you're painting with only water.

The filter changes the tone and gives to the model the a real metal-painted texture

Is it like painting a glaze then?

I have been on this site for almost a decade, and your the first person I have seen that has displayed this type of quality on a weathering job. I sat here for at least 40 minutes checking out your work, thinking to myself  "How does he do that?".

I normally can figure stuff out like this rather quickly, but you are using techniques that are probably more in line with fine scale modelling. I have seen a few historical tanks painted this good, but I can count them all on one hand that are of this quality.

Very nice indeed. This thread gets 5 stars.

I will be eagerly awaiting a tutorial on this. Please dont forget us here.

Oh yeah. A very warm welcome to dakka, Javi. We need more people of your calibre here. Saludos.

The only critique I can think of adding is this:

This vehicle appears to have gone through quite a few campaigns. It has seen some use. With that in mind, you should model battle damage of sorts. Things like bullet grazes, a couple impact dents or holes in the hull. Nothing major. Because of it seeing a fair bit of use, it is very reasonable to assume that it has been hit deliberatly, along with the stray bullet graze or two.

But thats just me. I am the sort of person who would tell davinci that the mona lisa's smile was crooked.

And waiting for the tutorial, before I start on my Crescent Guard Tanks. I've seen this level of stuff pulled successfully in military modelling circles, from where I tend to get more inspiration than from GDs and whatnot.

There's a guy here in Finland who's one the UK vehicle GD and best of show FW GD a couple of times, who can do stuff like this. But he's also using an airbrush...if only there was a way to do ith just a brush!!?

Most Impressive there! Never once have I seen a Tau anything beat up unless it was either used as basing material, or scenery. Indeed that army of yours will be a pleasure to own and use on a regular basis. Congrats there dood!

Excelent. I love the way that looks, though it does make me ashamed of my current guard tanks x_X. Hopefully I can apply your tutorials to any future models of mine!

Beautiful job!!! More often than not, GW forgets that there's a real world out there...away from maintenance depots and the like. It's very refreshing to see a more 'real world' paint scheme applied. Fluff be damned, equipment gets muddy and dirty.
