Should be in the fantasy section, but my sources say none. All should still be valid and playable. Nobody is getting cut. Now, that doesn't mean "Elven spearmen" won't be a thing (it might, I don't know), where you upgrade to dark, light or wood, but they'll be valid. I have no idea how much more than that.

I love the fact (actually, find it appalling is probably a better description!) that GW knows the internet is doing back-flips about this and they don't do anything to allay the fears of the current fantasy players.
All it would take is a "something great is coming, don't worry the current army you spent X on will still be perfectly usable" but they just let it continue un-abated.
It was exactly the same with that previous 'pancake' edition for 40k a couple of years ago, they knew full well the stink/furore that was causing when again a simple message to the community would have reduced the blood pressure of thousands of people. They really, really don't give a feth.
I haven't played WHFB for some time now, but have a lot of friends who do and so feel enraged on their behalf!

How much money did GW make out of the end times? How much did they lose by gamers not knowing what on earth is going on with 9th? Have the two cancelled each other out? If yes, and GW knew they needed to do something to reinvigorate fantasy, then in spite of gamer's protests they've been shrewd. If not, then carry on with the GW bashing (it's not like they don't deserve it anyway).

That's the info that I received: "we know people need info. It'll be coming out with at least a month's heads up, and nothing is being invalidated." Trust me when I say if the source lied, tar and feathers would likely happen.

I'm thinking about this- it's not like models can be truly invalidated, but whether they will translate into a new game is an entirely different question. Think of something like the Vampire Counts Blood Knights, a very expensive kit...will it simply become "undead horsemen"? Will it be comparable to its previous existence? Will the kits be axed from sales in the near future?

I had heard nothing invalidated but not everything would necesarrily be supported with new releases going forward. Can you confirm or deny that Timetowaste?

I'm not really sure if the original poster ment which units will be invalidated in the rules...
He may have ment which kits are going to be discontinued from the product ranges...there has been rumours that many units will stop production so he may be trying to figure out which kits he should buy before they go bye bye...see what I did there?
I hope no kits go away because I have so much I want to buy!!!

If the rumours are true that Bretonnia will be folded into Empire (which honestly wouldn't surprise me), I bet most of their models will remain but I could see Battle Pilgrims going the way of the Squat. I don't think that kit was ever all that popular anyway -- I can't remember the last time I saw a unit of Battle Pilgrims in a Battle report.
Pure speculation though. Over the years kits have been discontinued so I could see a few units here-and-there being discontinued.

Would not be at all amazed to see any unit that lacks a plastic model going the way of the dodo, to perhaps return as and when a plastic kit is done.
Can't see anything in plastic going, even Bretonnia if folded into the Empire book is likely to be separate units, tooling is made, and paid for, may as well keep using it until it breaks

The Empire book with a handful of additions would completely cover most humans. I'd be okay with a generic old world human faction as long as we got a couple flavorful units per sub faction and conversion kits like space marines get for different sub factions. Kislevite, Imperial, Bretonnian, Tilean & Estalian.
The Black Templar treatment for Bretonnia shouldn't bother the existing players as long as there were still ways to make them look more French or more German.

Yeah, I'm just concerned about purchasing orc and ogre kingdom models..
Maybe I should just get them soon so that I don't risk missing out on them.
