Search engines have been turning up forums, so time to ask the forum. Any alternative Templates out there? The Apocalyptic Blast one for a dead Imperial Knight? That's 10" I believe? Finally took the jump into Superheavies but good old GW doesn't restock.

Maybe I wasn't clear. Looking for other places and companies that make the Apocalyptic Blast marker since GW doesn't restock to supply them.

Actually GW does. They do the Hellstorm template which use the Apocalyptic one

That is an Apocalyptic Blast. Specific thing. Not a Hellstorm, not a Barrage, an Apocalyptic Blast. You can't place a Hellstorm over a dead Knight and make that work as D/2/4 AP values for each ring.

The template that uses different S and AP values (and indeed, the one used when a superheavy dies) is the Apocalyptic Mega-Blast, is it not? It's 15".

No, it still uses the 10" marker, but it has the seperate values for the rings. Technically the effect is called the Apocalyptic Mega-Blast but it uses the same marker as Apocalyptic Blast. Pg158 of the mini-rulebook.

You scared me though, cause I haven't even seen a 15" marker and thought I was even more unprepared than before...

Ashiraya is correct, there's an even bigger one.

Escalation templates are;

Hellstorm flamer template; 16.5" long. Basically a regular flamer template on the small end that spreads to a Large Blast size on the big end.

Massive blast: 7" Circle

Apocalyptic Blast: 10" Circle

Apocalyptic Mega-Blast; 15" outer ring, 10" middle ring, 5" inner ring. The weapon stats for these are wonky, and each ring has a different strength and AP value. For example, an Orbital Strike has a Strength of 10/8/6 and an AP value of 1/4/-. So really strong at the inner (S10, AP1) moderate in the middle (S8 AP4) and weakish at the biggest ring (S6 AP-).

Apocalyptic Barrage; Basically 5 linked 5" templates that are a bitch to resolve.

After re-reading the rule book....man, this is a STUPID system. It says that when playing Apocalypse, you should use the full 15" mega blast, but when playing 40k, use the 10" maker (apoc blast) and the 7"/5" rings on it to denote the different zones. What constitutes an Apoc game from 40k anymore exactly? It's also a fairly heavy nerf to Apoc mega-blast weapons.

It's whether you agreed to play Apocalypse or not, I believe.
