Hi folks,

Is it worth promoting a fusilier to a paramedic, rounding me up to 300 pts on the nose?

I'll be working on a Nomad list too, just so I have some variety and an army for my mrs!

Edit - I realise the TAG might be a point sink, but it's a great model and I think it's the sort of thing that makes people a bit more interested in giving the system a shot.

Further edit - I'm really not too taken with many of the Nomad minis (the ones I do like I have no idea what they do - the newer stuff is pretty sweet though!), so I've just aped the suggestion of an Iguana and 2 x Interventors/Fast Pandas.

I find 15 orders to be minimum when tinkering with double combat groups. It's quite restraining for PanO army. You can go with 12 - 13 with second combat group containing something like TR REM and a hacker for support programs.

10 orders is minimum when thinking on a single combat group, as it is, going first would mean you'll be having only six orders to play with. Akal is placed in reserve and the opponent is likely going to use his command token to leach two orders away from you.

Balls.

Thanks for the input.

I think my next step is to pick up the rules/fluff set and really start hammering all this information in to my head!

Edit - browsing the Infinity store, and I really like the Fusilier expansion set. I might change my goal and have more feet on the floor - a solid core of about 7 Fusiliers with some 'special forces' back up and some bots. I can work up to a Dragao in a Shock Army sectorial... Bit fluffier that way, isn't it?!

Change the Peacemaker for the Bulleteer. Bulleteers are a lot of fun. Pick up a cheap order with a minesweeper mulbot, and upgrade two fusiliers, one to Forward Observer and one to Paramedic. If you ever intend to play ITS Infinity tournament style games, you'll need to get used to using specialist like these. The mulbot also has a repeater, which goes well with your hacker.

Thanks for that, red Harvest! 10 orders

What do Forward Observers do?! I've only really looked at weapon stats and the basics in the free rules pdf.

They can mark enemy model, giving friendly models +3 to MOD to hit it or you can use guided ammunition.

Defensively you can also make non-lethal attack that can blind target. Either way you use your WIP and not BS attribute.

Forward Observers are also one of the Specialist classes that are pretty well required for scenario/tournament play. Hacker, Engineer, Doctor, Paramadic, Forward Observer, and lastly generic Specialist. Only those models with one of those skills tend to be able to score/hold the various objectives. For that reason I love making the Father Knight into a Hacker. I've not actually had him use a single Hacking Program yet, but he's a super durable Specialist that can get to and hold onto an objective and be a holy pain for the opponent to remove. Definitely my mvp.

Hackers usually don't get any WIP penalties in ITS, so that's very nice option to take. With D-charges you can also remove crates/consoles and complete sabotage objective. I run Konstantinos, does about the same but is cheaper and infiltrator.

FO Father Knight has nimbus grenades, from what I recall the effect they create lasts for a round, so you can have a low visibility zone(s) on demand before you enter the reactive turn, with suppressive fire and cover, you have - 9 MOD penalty and face to face roll off. It's something.

Unfortunately Nimbus only lasts until the end of the current player turn, but it's very handy for taking on link teams, or for stacking an extra -3 mod when attacking.

Bearing in mind I lost convincingly to a guy playing an 8-order Combined Army list in a tournament.

Just to muddy the waters
