It certainly was but I spent far too much as it is. Put it this way the Kitty's now at -£270. Doesn't bother me as it's money I can afford but I'll be intrigued to see whether I can reach the green by the end of the year! Loot shots and commentary tomorrow sometime as I'm knackered!

For a start hugely grateful thanks to the staff at Excel Arena for quickly and simply dealing with the idiot who had printed of last years ticket by mistake. Some beautiful display games and boards were about but it was far more a trade show than anything else. I actually got everything I planned to and some more beside.

Yep thats the copy of Horizon Commander and Kings of War 2 as well as Dragon Rampant and the preliminary book for Command Horizon. I also got the two plastic sets I was after as well as picking up that Hasslefree order. The other major planned purchase was the guns for my Leviathon as it can't currently reach most 6mm scale opponents. I got quite a few beasties for Frostgrave mainly from Foundry although Malifaux Boars and Mantics Gargoyles, Zombie Trolls and the Denizens of the Abyss set also make an appearance (excellent set for random Daemons for Skirmish games by the way). Some Arabian style Wizards as well along with some pig headed beastmen for my Nurgle forces. A Snow Troll, Evil Overlord and Sir Godric from Heresy also got picked up. The UCM set was as it was £25 for 3 excellent Dropships and was my most random impulse. Been reading the rules today and on first impression Horizon Commander is interesting but maybe designed for smaller forces than I'm really after while Dragon Rampant seems excellent for simple narrative gaming. Haven't read Kings of War yet but I got a Demo Game in and enjoyed it. Unfortunately my cameras playing up so sprue pictures etc will have to wait for another time.

Definitely theres something better about buying something in the flesh and it also feels brilliant to buy and interact directly with the creators. Why I like genuine kickstarters!

In mid 2013 i backed Troublemaker Games first kickstarter for plastic 6mm infantry I actually got my metal bikers and decided to back the 2nd and 4th kickstarters but I never received the plastics. Troublemaker eventually became Vanguard and on Tuesday 6 of these arrived in the post

This is excellent as given the change in company I wouldn't have quite objected to never seeing them. Equally this is very much to there benefit as I might not buy anything from them if they'd released the sprue without meeting the kickstarter obligations either way fun new toys.....

As I'm on the topic I'll also show you decent sprue pics of the Arabs

and Steppe Warriors.

Nice to see the plastic kit finally emerge, I will be still waiting on on mine for a long while yet- as I ordered the Ork AA set, which the molds were lost for, so having to wait for them to remake them.

There also seems to be a odd number of minis on there, but I spose that doesn't matter, as they are being mixed in with everything I already own.

I might have finally sold my flat in the uk so though I have missed my chance to go to salute if everything goes with out a hitch I am going to treat myself to a huge splurge of minis! Either pop to GW in the city and finally bring my Vermin to 40k scale, or go mad with a microworld games order. Either is unnecessary, but both would be fun.

That'll be a while. The Vermyn might be worth a look for 40k skaven. Which City? When I was in the Republic there was a decent wargaming shop in Dublin on the North Side along O'Connell Street. Cleared them out of Dirz.........

I'm down the other end closer to cork, pass blarney way. Though I'm popping up to Dublin for a few days next week I will try to pass there and pop in, even just for a black paint top up! We are being taken on a food tour of Dublin so I'm sure I will get a chance!

Its good living this way, but it is a little hard to get to games shops!

Heh don't know it's still there mind as I was working on the roads the year before the economy went kaput if it's still about it's worth a visit.

Fairly Heroic actually.

Been reading through the Horizon Commander rules. Fairly good but not an Epic equivalent frankly it feels as if it's too high tech to represent the 41st millenium. It's also slightly smaller than I thought aimed at forces of a few mechs and some supporting troops rather than the battalions of Epic. Equally I want to play it and my Epic models will get some use for it. Now I need to pick up some D12!

Finally got a game in with my Epic Guard. Only used 6 models however for Horizon Wars. Good intuitive mechanics but the Light Mech I took in the ork List was easily overshadowed by the bonuses for the Heavy Cavalry commander in the Human List. Next time I'll change the forces slightly. May need to sort out identification markings as well.

All my Reaper Cav goodies have arrived and to celebrate I've painted this Kraken.

I'm planning to use her as a strategic bomber.

Relaxed with my spending for my Birthday by backing Massive Darkness and the Gnickstarter. I also received my Black Plague goodies and picked up some Yetis and the Rotek Brutes cheap from North Star. The Rotek brutes are an excellent set for Robot or micro-scale vehicle parts. Highly recommended. Wil get round to photographing some of my recently completed stuff soon

The Knights are the most common class of figure makes sense as you'd want armour to fight Zombies.

Yep pretty good size Undead army from that haul their shown in my Nurgle blog. Decided to back heavily as I could use the monsters easily in a half dozen different games and they'd also go well in my Nurge force.

Actually played a game of Frostgrave lost spectacularly as it was a three player game and I was in the middle corner so got ganged up on slightly and then the troll attacked and drove me right into my opponents band. I do want to play more and we're interested in a campaign.

Nice haul with the ZBP, also see some extras there, I tried to hold back, but I want the Karl critchlov or however you spell it, but I only grabbed the jovem nerd pack as extra. And the NPC 2

Yeah went fairly full in with the extra monsters. Glad I did as their all useful beasties. The crowz add flying baddies something I didn't have before and will happily join my Nurgle Army. The Deadeye walkers are also excellent sculpts and the nicest Undead Archers currently about. Really glad I got both of them. The 2 sets of NPC Zombies will also give a wide variety to my Nurgle Army. The Karl Critchlow add-on was a spur of the moment but the two giant Chaos Warriors are awesome and I'm delighted I brought it. Unfortunately I'm trying to keep my fantasy collection on square bases so everything will have to be rebased.......

Gaming wise excellent. I've recently got games of Warmaster using the Army of New Haven (which I won by killing of the Tomb King using a Knight charge along with flanking Flagellants). Frostgrave (which thankfully I liked even though I lost due to starting in the middle and having a Troll turn up in the middle of the warband, careless use of exlosive runes not withstanding) and NetEpic (lost due to my titan detonating with the first volley of the game Stormblades are brutal). I've got Frostgrave lined up for next week and several people interested in Epic as well. Excellent!

Been doing some stuff to get ready for the Frostgrave tomorrow.
First of all another Ghoul

A Medium Construct (Dirz Hybrid with Mantic Robot arms.

Then a Wolf giving my bestiary a nice boost.

I've also got a bright and flamboyant Sorceress done.

Finally I've finished one of my Wargames Tournaments ruins.

Lost again at Frostgrave me and a mate both totalled each others wizards with a natural 20 in a four way game. I've also gone in heavily on Massive Darkness due to lots of big gribblies so that'll be to look forward to next spring as well as treated myself to a spawn kit while I was hunting the right shade for Arabic skin. Any suggestions?

This is the decapitated noble from ZBP painted in my ghost scheme. Quick and simple and an excellent spirit model for Frostgrave

I've also got a basic Merc done these were actually the first fantasy models I brought and have been languishing unpainted for 13 years. Mildly embarassing.

I also decided to go back to an older project and get CNS Viper painted up

and finally a Cougar CAV in Hrin Colours

I'll be working something out to integrate these models properly with the 40k background but for now I'll just paint them in the same scheme for use in other games.

Got my Gnickstarter here. Gnolls, Rats, Hyena and Mushroom Men. Fun. Books interesting provides some nice weird critters for the Bestiary. Beastcrafting is a little meh but the Traps and Underground rules are excellent. The Gnoll rules are a bit of a trick basically they simply count as human mercenaries which is slightly dull. Equally I feel vindicated when I suggest people can use any models they like just use a logical fairly Wysiwyg statline.
