I am not trying to sell them here, but these models have been sitting around for a long time because I simply cannot get into 7th edition. I don't even have the rules for all my models because I can't bring myself to by a 7th edition book anymore.

My Praetorians have maybe been used once or twice this year, my Grim WW1 Not Death Korps have been used a handful of times, Harlequins I am incredibly proud of but they take up so much space and I don't even have the latest rules for their Eldar allies and the Cultist Guard/Mechanicum style soldiers are among the most beautiful in my collection but I simply have no use for them.

Unless something happens in 8th (which I dont really want to buy anyway) then I doubt this will change. If 7th is anything to go buy and Age of Sigmar then I don't want to have anything more to do with the rules. Even at the club 40k games (and recently Fantasy) has simply whittled down to a trickle. Anyways now I am whining.

I don't think any of the models are badly painted, most are pretty unique too. Only unfinished force is the Harlequins who have not got much more painting to go.

Despite the fact these are painted, what are the odds they would even sell nowdays? On trade me (NZ EBAY) I hardly see anything for Imperial Guard on there nowdays.

Anyway here are some pics:

Praetorians:

Spoiler:

Scottish:
Spoiler:

WW1 Not Death Korps:

Spoiler:

Renegade/mechanicum or something:

Spoiler:

Harlequins: Note the Warithknight has a jester hat now which makes him look like a sick joke.

Spoiler:

So ultimately, aside from the Harlequins, they are all finished. I think they looks pretty good (I did not paint all of it, Harlequins are my only work here) but is the fact they are painted gonna make it a waste of time to sell? Should I just find a nice box for them to live in?

I usually sell crap that has not been painted but a nicely painted force is something I have never sold before. If you had money, would you buy or is it simply gonna be a waste of time?

Im in paraparaumu Mate, I am keen to try older edition if you are? Might actually get some use out of these.

But yea 6th was alright for me when the book first came out, some weird bits in it but then the books that followed killed it for me. Compounded into shelved models.

If the price is right those mechanicus minis will sell fast. I see anvil tox troopers in there, but what are those other guys? They look cool.

Heaps of interest in the Mechanicum. Does it matter they aren't GW models? Personally I think these look better than the GW official mechanicum troops I have seen.

The mechanicum guys are from the same anvil range just painted by someone with a lot more talent than me haha. The creepy hermit cyborg is from Forge World.

I sold all my GW stuff to buy into WMH and Infinity. Best choice I ever made.

Okay, marrying my wife was the best, but this is second place.

Also, check out my history blog: Minimum Wage Historian, a fun place to check out history that often falls between the couch cushions.

See I have a lot of games (firestorm, planetfall, bolt action, flames of war, kings of war, 6mm fantasy, infinity, mordheim, gorka morka, black powder and so on) but the GW related stuff just sits there.

I am tempted to do the same thing. But I spent a lot of money/effort on this stuff so it's a really hard decision. I won't sell it if it I have to sell it off cheap to move it.

That stuff is beautiful man. I hope you take a LOT of great pictures before you let it go. And that they find a good home that won't strip them.

I can never bring myself to sell models I've put effort in to painting.

I'm going to have to do something though, I have a Tyranid army, and Orc and Goblin army and a Lizardmen army along with assorted stuff from heaps of other forces just sitting there taking up space.

Are those Praetorians the Victorian Miniatures models? I recognize the Michael Caine model.
In any case it's better to try and sell them than dump them, at the same time it's a potentially drastic measure, if you ever get back into it you might really miss them.

Don't think i could ever sell mine if I needed to, due to my questionable skills, odd conversions and picking a successor chapter but I'm not anywhere near that point anyway.

Don't believe me? It's all in the numbers.

Yea I think I will sell. I have decided. I would play one last glory game but I don't think I can be bothered. They take up the most shelves and move from the shelves the least.

Hopefully I don't regret it but we shall see.

Yes the Praetorians are Victoria Miniatures and even the commissars are made from those bits. There are some heresy and 40k bits mixed in too.

Ah, thought that might've been the case.

In any case, good luck with it, I don't think they will have massive problems selling, I suppose just double-check to make sure you're prepared to do this, no going back and all (well I suppose there is but very expensive and tricky going back).

If I regret selling this stuff it is likely because GW has done something to make the game more for my liking, so I will be happy to restart by that time.

However with AOS out and the direction the game has been going I have high doubts this will happen for a long time.

I'd say sell if you get a good price and are certain you won't regret it later on. I recommend you keep at least your favourite army just to have a way back in should your interest return one day.

In any case, I would have loved to buy some of these, but shipping costs probably makes that extremely expensive.

Yeah I don't think trademe is the way to go. It'd be difficult to move for a fair price on there I reckon. Plus their fees are high, making it worse.

Although generally when I'm not feeling warhammer I just box it and chuck it in the attic. 3-4 years and I come back to it.

Interesting. I initially enjoyed 7th and the Maelstrom missions. However, codex spam has kinda blown me out of the water as far as keeping up with the Joneses and gaming. I am in Welly and would be keen on 6th ed games with older codexes for sure.

I dunno if I would sell those praetorians - pretty rare fellas. Once they are gone you might miss them I reckon

Can I just suggest you keep the Praetorians and Scots for your own sake? Keep them for the models rather than the playing?

I've gotten rid of a number of armies over the years. Rarely do I regret it. And I doubt 8th will be anything worth bothering with. It's probably only a year away at this point.

If you have any doubts, keep one army for a year or so, then pull the models out and look at them in detail. If you feel nothing then sell them. This is how I do it.

There is a swap meet at my club in 6 weeks, it usually draws in huge crowds from the region. Will take my armies there and see if anyone local can make good use of them and maybe come out with something useful.

Shameless Plug (Its fairly relevant and not worth its own thread)

I've been trying for a while to sell my entire Tyranid army consisting of:
Spoiler:

1 Tervigon (Something rattles inside it but it has 0 visible damage or defects)
1 Mawloc
1 Zoanthrope (fine cast: One of the lucky fine-casts that isn't brittle and came out perfectly)
1 Beast of phodia carnifex (I'll miss you Can Opener)
1 Spawn of Cryptus
2 Ripper bases
3 Venomthropes
3 Tyranid warriors
16 Genestealers
12 Termagants with fleshborers (These and the other termagants are the only painted models these have a kraken base coat)
12 Termagants with devourers (See above: Completed kraken paint-job)
48 Hormagaunts
A set of blast/flame templates
A crapton of bitz

This isn't exactly and add so much as asking for advice on how to sell it, I've been trying to sell the whole lot for £130 ($199) lowering to £100 ($153) if the add stays up for too long. And I'm wondering if I've set the price too high, New these models would cost around £350 ($536) and I thought 1/3 of that number would be reasonable. Additionally are there any sites that are particularly good for selling second hand 40k figures? Finally I've been trying to sell it all as one lot, is that a good idea or will I only sell them if I split them up?

Its really hard selling 40k. My friend had to lower the prices on his generic 40k stuff so much for people to buy it after months.

I was lucky with mine that I managed to sell it quickly.

40k is hard to sell big time. Warhammer Fantasy is as well for that matter...

Unless you army has something different about it or is really really cheap, most people seem to not look twice. Yesterday I saw people try sell their 40k at stupidly low prices and very few 40k sales actually happened.

A lot of people are getting rid of some or all of their armies. Its stupid expensive to upkeep one army much less two or more.

Why does it cost so much for people to upkeep any army? New codex, even if released quickly, is not breaking the bank. It's easy to go out to a nice dinner and spend more $$$ than a new codex costs.

I suppose if you're trying to play in a more competitive format you would need to keep up with FotM and what does well in the meta. But for casual play? I've not changed/added units to a few of my armies for over a year at a time.
