Since we have a what do you hate... and we always have a what do you hate topic... how about a what do you love and why do you love it.... is there a faction that stands out with the game or the fluff? Is there a sub section of a faction that you love?

Vote it up and tell why it is your favorite...

I would pick Necrons, but they're not on the list.

Tau. Clean futuristic aesthetics, trying to make the universe a better place, the subtle and corrupt control of the Ethereals over the Tau, the odds against way bigger threats, and, most of all, the mecha-style battlesuits

It has 7 HQs, 2 Troop types with Dedicated Transports, 5 Elite units, 5 Fast Attack units, 6 Heavy Support units, 2 Formations with unique units not in the rest of the codex, and 2 LOW choices.

Tyranids

I liked the Zerg before I knew about 40k and so that love got instantly transferred to Nids. I like the idea of a giant beasts just picking up a tank that weights multiple tons and casually throwing it aside like it was made of paper. And the idea that all these technologically adcanced races are threatened by what is basically an apex predator that doesn't really on technology, but instead evolved more efficiently (even tough some of the Tyranid's evolutions don't make a lot of sense on paper, like ingrown weaponry).

Gotta drop my two cents in for the clowns. Dancing around the foe as if they are playing some game before casually turning their inurds to soup with a quick jab of their kiss.

Both Imperial Guard and Orks, sure they might not be the best faction or the easiest factions to pick up, but darn it they are both enjoyable to play.

Orks I feel will be top tier of fun for life.

Guard, for the fluff and even the whole "If you survive long enough you may live long enough for the Adeptus Astartes to come and take all the credit!".

Gotta go with my first ever army... the Black "going all medieval on the enemies of Man since 30K" Templars.

I also really like the Imperial Guard (not All-Star Mighty-Morphin-whatchamacallit) and the Storm Stroopers (not Shrimp tempura skylion McThingy), Tau, Orks... I think almost all of the factions bring something to the table and help add variety.

Homebrew Imperial Guard: 1222nd Etrurian Lancers (Winged); Special Air-Assault Brigade (SAAB)
Homebrew Chaos: The Black Suns; A Medrengard Militia (think Iron Warriors-centric Blood Pact/Sons of Sek)

Orks for sure. One of the few factions that really thrive off the neverending war in 40K, and who are both tough and brutal while showing the tongue-in-cheek side of 40K that is increasingly rare to see.

Imperial Guard. In a galaxy full of genetically-engineered super soldiers, apex predator dinosaur swarm monsters, highly advanced bovine aliens, highly evolved space elves, the same space elves but with more spikes, the same genetically-engineered super soldiers but with more spies, chaos itself made manifest, undying robots with lethal arcane technologies, space elf clowns, tough, violent fungus monster these guys are still just your average joe with weak armor and a weedy rifle. But with numbers, courage, a little luck and a ton of ordnance they manage to blow the everloving crap out of the previous races listed.

I didn't see my Flesh Tearers, so it's a tough one between the Orks for just how they are in general and the Dark Eldar.
Because they're space pirates. In Commorragh, people have no laws! They have no rules and they never grow old!

Here's to me in my sober mood,
When I ramble, sit, and think.
Here's to me in my drunken mood,
When I gamble, sin, and drink.
And when my days are over,
And from this world I pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

Orks, I played a Single game so far against someone else who brought Orks as well. FUNNEST GAME EVER!

SAG shots going back and forth, boyz running rampant across the board in big blobs. Weirdboyz casting random hilarity wherever they went. Finally my Big Mek rolled badly and got transported into Base to base with my opponents big mek (both were warlords) and they went at it for the last turn. I don't think I have or will ever play a game as much fun as that one was.

I come in peace. I didn't bring artillery. But I'm pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you mess with me, I'll kill you all

Dark eldar. Mostly the coven portion. I love the idea of physically and genetically altered space elves built into weapons of mass torture. The aesthetic of the models (most important thing to me since I love painting them as much as playing them) is epic, I'd say best of any army. They have the ability to either completely and totally wreck your sh!t or die horrendously.

This is not an overpowered nor an easy codex to handle (a full HtH codex with expensive units in a shooting game), but this is very fun to play with.

Id say DE or CSM. DE because theyre my standing army, and I love the fact that theyre pirates who do whatever they want because theyre awesome. CSM because, background and fluff wise, they have more character than any other army, including the vanilla marines.
