I just played my first demo game of Infinity last night, and I have to say that I'm absolutely sold on the game's mechanics. I've been interested in CB's miniatures for a couple of years, so it's refreshing to see a game that plays as smoothly as it looks.
According to the army list builder, the list is ITS-legal, but please say so if there are any discrepancies. I've got 9 orders, which seems like a decent number in a 200 point game (I read somewhere that 8-10 is the sweet spot?). Would the points spent on the Aguaciles with LGL and Medikit be better put to use elsewhere?
The only aspects to the list that I'd consider mandatory are A). to use most, if not all of the Nomads starter set; and B). to include an Interventor (or another similarly diabolical hacker). Other than that, I'm open to any suggestions. What are some fun units that you'd recommend?
After playing a couple more games tonight, I've updated the list and gotten to test it out a bit with some graciously loaned minis. It was a lot of fun against my opponent's Yu Jing force, as he was kind enough to let me get a feel for each unit instead of just blasting me off of the board on turn one. He was definitely taking it easy on me, but I think that this list is fairly well-rounded (although I learned the dangers of melee combat fist-hand). What do you guys think? Is there a good way to spend that last point?
Looks like you have got as many bases covered as possible for 200pts; sniper, sneaker, hacker, rear-guard defence, medic etc.
If I have a point left over I usually try and see if there is an alternative load-out for one unit. If not, I wouldn't bother about it to much if you have a list you are happy with (it's not essential to use every point, or every SWC for that matter!)
After some more test games with the previous list, I have figured out what I like some more. The Mobile Brigada proved itself to be a disappointment, while the Reaktion Zond has been the MVP multiple times. When the Interventor gets the chance to shine, it always seems to follow through, but the paramedic Alguacil has accidentally killed more patients than he has revived. The Spektr is contested only by the Reaktion Zond for usefulness.
With all of this in mind, I devised a new list with more orders and specialists. I was torn between a Bakunin Clockmaker for the higher WIP and the Tomcat Engineer for sheer versatility, but I decided upon the Tomcat due to my troubles with eliminating TO camouflaged enemies.
I realized that I have the ability to take a Spec-Ops with 12 exp, so I made a doctor/engineer with higher WIP and saved a few points over the Daktari. I then changed the Tomcat into a doctor, as I would have no reason to take 2 engineers with only 1 REM and no TAGs. The essence of the list is more or less the same, though.
Without a before game agreement you can't use Spec-Ops units, as they aren't part of the standard Infinity army list. They are for campaign and some ITS formats not normal games of Infinity (or most ITS formats for that matter). Infinity Army is a ITS tool not a I:TG tool, odd but important. It is built with a understanding the user knows list building and is why the Spec-Ops is included.
Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.
My local gaming group always allows Spec-Ops with 12 exp. in friendly games. I had thought that his was just the standard everywhere. As such, it shouldn't really be much of a problem. What do you think about the list itself?
How could I fix that? Is there some gear that I should swap out? Boarding shotguns have treated me nicely so far, but would I be better off with something else?
I dropped the martial arts and 1 WIP to give the Spec Ops a spitfire. Do you think that that might improve the team's firepower, or am I just putting all of my eggs into one basket?
List spoilered below, as not much else has changed.
You might consider another version of the Vortex. Having two types of specialist skills on one troop combined with a weapon you tend to use often results in the most cases in a loss of said specialist. Thus you should deploy your Vortex either as a source to get another hard Weapon (Do I hear someone screaming: "Another MULTI Sniper Rifle FOR FREE, OMG!!!"? ) or you make him a high WIP bearing mission mule, he can get a good wepon though but more as an option for his defence.
Well, I also had to convert you previous spoilered list; OCD-ish i know
The Moraan is a FO now, your Lt. lost his FastPanda in exchange you got a Modertor with Marker so shoot Deployble Repeaters which gives your Lt. Hacker an even wider range.
