So, here I am starting 40k again. I haven't assembled anything or touched a paintbrush in around 6 to 7 years, so it's been a fun relearning experience, and realizing I have very unsteady hands now.

As of now, I've got 40 Kriegers, 2 Commissars, a Leman Russ, 20 Skitarii Rangers and Vanguards, and a Dunecrawler assembled and at least primed. Have some command squads and another Leman Russ on the way.

So, starting with the pictures, and hopefully future posts will be a bit more thought out and a bit less scatterbrained.


The Kriegers were rather fun to assemble, lots of little fiddly bits to shove into places like on the vox guys. Nothing too fancy, stripped twist ties and bristles from a broom. Might leave them the colour of the primer, gives them a nice black rubberized look, but haven't decided yet.


Everything assembled and primed.

Got an airbrush this go around and used that to do all the orange on the Skitarii.






Started up painting a single ranger to work out how I wanted things to look, first more or less finished model except for basing and weathering which I'll do when I get all my plans worked out, but for a while, he's done.




And am currently working on the dunecrawler between stages of the Rangers and Vanguards, current state:

Thanks! And nothing too special on them, thinking mainly grays, darker for the coats, lighter for the slacks and inside. All of this stuff is going to be based for a winter world, probably trenches so lots of mud, snow, and other such things.

For somebody who didn't touch a paintbrush in a while, you are doing pretty good!

Well it's been a bit since my first post, and only have done a little bit of painting overall. Skitarii troops are still WIP so no new pictures of them yet, so I'll just get right down to what I've been working on

Firstly, some Blood Ravens, only half of the squad for now.


Secondly, some more work on the dunecrawler, still needs some highlights and a little touchup on the the Mechanicum cogs but it's coming along






And finally, some quickly made tank traps for use on larger bases as well as battlefield terrain when I make more of them

Very small update, haven't had much painting time. Painted up a test squad of Kriegers, but forgot to take any pictures before putting them on the shelf so just have a single model from before basing.

Looking great, I like that WWI Trench coat color scheme, fits the general gloomy mood of the DKOK. Looking forward to the rest of the squad !

Good idea with the tank traps made of sprue. I have so much sprue around I might try a couple myself.

Some more AdMech updates today
An image I thought I posted here but never did, a bit further work on the dunecrawler, all I really have left is scuffing it up and weathering and such.


And then what I've spent all of the past day working on, a Kataphron servitor and a Tech Priest Dominus

Another new update, pretty small this time, all I've been working on besides that is finishng up the 10 man tactical squad, a Skitarii Vanguard squad and a Krieger platoon.

But what I'm here to post is a WIP Leman Russ, I think it's basically ready for some squadron and company markings, then scuffing up and covering the bottom and treads with mud.

Ah a fellow krieger! Very nice stuff so far, will you be running the assault or siege list?

Thanks! I'm planning on running a Siege list, consisting of a combined Infantry, Armoured and Artillery regiment based on the current fluff I'm planning out.

Nice! The siege list is probably the better of the two, I run assault lol.

The only real problem I've had running it at all thus far is the lack of transports and mobility, but with so many boots on the ground, it still works out.

I love how that Russ came out, have to applaud you for trying to put on company/squadron markings. I don't have the patience or skill for it.

Bouncing back to my Blood Ravens for a bit, painted up the base of my captain and did base painting of a rhino for the tac squad

Captain is coming along nicely it looks like, as is the Rhino. I always did love the Blood Ravens
