As the title says - are Lemon Russ Conquerers actually any good and worth using? I've been humming and harring over them for a while now, as they're so cheap.

They changed the rules on them to be what, S8 AP3 48" small blast right?

I think they're OK, esp since not ordinance you can fit sponsons on there and be able to shoot all of their weapons.

Price is right too if I'm not mistaken.

Very esoteric appeal to them IMO, kind of antiquated but very visually appealing.

Never used one or faced one but looks decent on paper.

Many arguments against them I've had from this forum, but the price is right I think which makes them worth it.

150 points for lascannon hull and multimelta sponsons.

Move 12 inches fire two multimeltas, on an AV14 front? Not bad... or run away 12 inches and fire the lascannon and conqueror cannon.. I feel they survive better thanks to their manouvreability and so will get more chances to actually shoot their weapons.

It gets even better (worse?) when you compare them to a Devil Dog that's been upgraded with a multi-melta.
The Devil Dog has the same cost (ish) and one of their meltas is a blast weapon... but the conqueror has the armour of a leman russ.

Sadly for us Chaos folk Renegades dont get the MM hullweapon on devil dog platforms.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses! The multi-melta sponsons sound like a pretty great idea. I might put them in my list after all

They work really well with Death Korps of Krieg Death Riders, being able to move 12 inches enables me to provide a wall of armor 14 to get them close and allow them to charge almost entirely intact!

I have looked into my IA Imperial Guard 2nd and it states Conqueror Cannon is 48" S7 AP4 Small Blast. I'll be glad it has been buffed but where did you find that? Such a tweak would greatly improve Conqueror effectivness because at S7, it's not that great I think.

It was certainly made s8 ap3 at some point, no idea where you'd find the most current rules stating though

It has S8 AP3 48" in the Siege of Vraks book

its a good tank if it lives till the end of the game and is in a position to capitalize on the table, then it can come in and really put in work, it can do damage early game too but the longer hes on the table the worse he becomes

Hmmm. Thats interesting. On my Battlescribe, you CANNOT have a conqueror in the Tank Command squad at all, but you can have it in a regular LR squad. I wonder why........

As you said "work with Mr. Pask..." I smiled with glee as I thought of how cool that might be. I wander why battlescribe says no. Mine does as well, but it doesn't really make sense. Perhaps because its not in the Astra Militarum codex?

Well, Battlescribe allows the Conqueror in a regular LR squad, just not in the Command group. Maybe they think it would be tooooo powerful with Pask.
Anyway, I am now in the process of scratch building a Conqueror for my IG. I have most of the main pieces from various bits buys from e-bay. I just have to make the track housings from foam board.

As people have already said, the cannon on the conqueror is pretty pathetic.

If you are looking for a tank that can fire a blast anmd still use all its guns effectively, then the eradicator would get my vote.

That said, and as other have already covered, a fast AV14 platform with melta weapons provides guard lists with a different tool that their codex is lacking.
