What's your opinions about this hero?
The Cometstrike Sceptre is nice, with D3 mortal wounds against each unit in reach of D6'' from a point within 24'' range of the hero.
But the Ghal Maraz is a bit disappointing with 2 attacks only.
Large model almost like Glottkin. Too expensive for my liking: 62 Euro.

I think he's pretty good at damage dealing. You can immediately (first turn) put him in 9 inches of the opponent and try to charge. WIth the possible 6 damage from the hammer and d3 from the comet or you can one shot a character or kill a good amount of stuff in another unit through damage and battleshock at -2. How do 8 wounds with no saves most of the time look in the battleshock phase coupled with -2 to bravery? For a regular 6 bravery units it looks like possible 8 models gone (well it depends on how many wounds the models had etc. but this is the idea). Pure alpha strike unit. At the same time you can use judicators to pew pew all the units with -2 for some affitional battleshock attrition.
Charging Ghal Maraz IMO is for dealing with larger units. If for example it's charged to 6 attacks and all hit you're looking at about 20 wounds, again mostly no save. It's a scaling mechanism.
Overall I like this model ALOT and I think this made it for me to get the starter and start a new stormcast AoS army.

Hold him back for 2 turns then use him for smashing through units or monsters.
If your playing a non turn based game he is ideal for taking out nagash, glottkin etc.
Not a bad model but hate the rubbish under him.

I am slightly underwhelmed if this guy is supposed to be the StormCast leader and this is our Nagash/Karl Franz type character (unless Sigmar actually comes to play). Seems quite squishy at only 8 wounds and very alpha strike.
That said, when he does come in, that turn is going to hurt. Have him in turn 2, or 3 if there is a big monster you need to kill, teleporting to 9" near an enemy and throw down the Cometstrike and hope to get a kill or two so that the -2 battleshock result can be applied. Then use the Orrey of Celestial Fates to almost always get in with the charge (anything but 1/1, 2/1, 2/2) will get him in as you just change the other dice to a 6 to give you your 9" charge and thats 6.67 wounds at -3. If you charge at something that isn't immune to battle shock then you could be taking out a large chunk of something.
Still, he will get killed the turn after with only 8 wounds at +3 with no other ability to help it, and since he comes in movement phase you cant Mystic Shield him that turn.

Excellent damage dealer for pure stormcast eternal army; either for taking out key enemy monsters such as nagash and glottkin, or wiping out those pesky 2+ save buffed up temple guards who ignore rend unless it's -2 or better.
Small number of basic attacks is it's limit, but it can be easily overcome by putting him in the celestial realm for 2~3 battle rounds.
The Orrery special rule is much better than I initially thought, since it allows the player to change one dice roll to a roll of the player's choice.
The rule makes 9-inch long charge on the same turn celestant prime 'deep strikes' on the table very likely, since you only need one or more 3+ roll.(And turning the other d6 into a roll of 6)

This guy with decimators will ruin people in battle shock. With the teleport in and almost certain charge, thats -2 to things within 12" and -4 if in range of the decimators as well.

I was wondering what the over consensus was for how long to hold him reserve. One or two turns seems ideal since it is a damage 3 weapon.
Also, using his rule to change the distance of the comet to 6" can make sure you hit multiple units if you need it. Seems neat.

Lots of Flexibility with this guy.
I'm thinking I'm going to use his comet strike to kill warmachine crew.
D3 mortal wounds will strip all the crew off a cannon, changing the D3 to 3 if need be.
When to bring him in? Depends on what you need killed.
With how slow the rest of the units are, I plan on holding him back at least a turn, and use him to plug gaps.
Odd that "The first among stormcast etnerals" has no command ability.

He's just out of the vault. He's angry. He's got bitchin' cool hammer. No time for handling commands to plebs. (Ok, this is old) Hammertime.

That's rad, I'm going to have to scream "Hammer Time!" when I bring him into play. And of course, if I hold him in reserve, "Can't Touch This"
How hard would it be to convert him to be wearing hammer pants, and swap out the scepter for a ghetto blaster?
Hey, it's even the GW color scheme. http://mypartyshirt.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/6/3/63310.jpg Automatically Appended Next Post: Finished first game with the Prime.
Opponent gave me the 1st turn, because my army is slow, and then went back to back bottom of turn 1 to top of turn 2.
Took a pretty good beating, but held the prime back.
I won the roll on turn 3, made opponent go 1st.
Things were looking ugly when prime came in on bottom of then 3 (with 6 attacks), spread some love with the comet, and did 9 wounds.
Then I won turn 4, and went 1st, letting the prime go back to back.
That was all it took.
Seems like timing for the possibility of back to back turns is pretty key with him.

Why would you have him as your General to sit in the heavens for 3 turns commanding no one... much better off with a Lord Celestant and your General, especially if you play it right the hammer will be hitting on 2+ when the Prime shows up thanks to +1 from Celestants Retribution.

After playing several games, I'm sticking with the mounted guy. A bubble effect of inspiring presence is really good. At least once a game I lose a few guys to a botched battle shock. +1 to hit is awesome, but I'd like a few more than 5 wounds on my warlord.
The prime wouldn't be a great warlord, just though it was odd that he didn't have any command ability.

There's plenty of heroes with no Command Abilities. They tend to be beatsticks.
It makes the Waywatcher Lord a great option for playing "The Trap" scenario though if you're going to be the Ambusher.

I too am finding the mounted guy is better than the not mounted guy. More deadly in hand to hand, better move and that anti-battleshock bubble is amazing. Would much rather have guys not run away than be +1 to hit
