I personally have a soft spot for mark 2 especially in these colors https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/46/fb/76/46fb76b8fe1550c587984cd6703b1a23.jpg http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121012071716/warhammer40k/images/7/7f/EC_Centurion_Mk_II.jpg

Not really aware of the minute details of each armor type but I do really like the aegis armor's (GK) helmet. Also I like the design of the Black Templar wearing a tabard over their power armor (less to do with which MK the armor is and more to do with chapter decorative style).

The Mark 6 would be best for that, then he can stab people with the Beakie helmet!

Definitely love the Mk. IV above all else. If the rumors are true, and the Horus Heresy set that is coming out include three squads of Maximus armor, I will be in heaven. I also really like Mk. VII, since that is the most iconic SM to me (came in long after VI was the baseline). If I had my way, I would field a Battle Company composed of 50% Mk IV, 50% Mk VII. I like Mk VIII for sergeants and other officers, since that gorget looks pretty cool on them.

Used to be MkIV (the FW one, the GW MkIV helmets look awful next to them). But now I like II, III, IV and VI about equally. I really don't like VII, it's so boring.

Agreed on the FW Mk IV being INFINITELY better than the GW IV. The FW version looks like vents, the GW version looks like a short elephant trunk. I like the general profile of the IV, V, VII, and VIII helmets. To me, II and III are way too much like a medieval bucket helm, they just don't look futuristic enough for me. I don't know why, but the VI helm just bugs me(and it is the iconic Crimson Fists armor!).

The segmented armor of II is really awesome looking. I prefer IV for my Crimson Fists since III is the epitome of the Iron Warriors appearance moreso than Imperial Fists, IMO. I like to think that my Fists will have broken out the museum pieces to rearm the battle companies while the forges attempt to get newer Mks out.

Depends on the legion. MK 4 for world eaters, sons of Horus or emperor's children, MK 2 or 3 for death guard, iron hands or iron warriors. Can't be bothered going through all the legions but you get the picture

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Hands down the best looking is MK II armor. Especially when you add tabards and surcoats.

Uh. Almost all of the power armor models are based on medieval armor. MK V and MK VII resemble a Klappvisor, MK VI is a Hounskull, MK II and MK III are straight-up heaumes, and well... MK IV I guess doesn't really have a base on anything. Of course there's also aegis/artificer armor such as the Emperor's Champion which resembles an Armet, and SOB helmets are Coventry Sallets.
