I play Blood Angels with allied Space Marines, both painted as a single Blood Angels force. They can be identified by the colour of the rims, the Codex: Blood Angels marines having brown rims, and the Codex: Adeptus Astartes marines having blue rims.
Would you think of this as a fair method of identification/would you play this army?

I wouldn't see why not. They have a visually identifying feature to make it clear who belongs to what army. But like with all things, it's up to your opponent. Though they'd kinda have to be jerks to say no.

I wouldn't like it since i know the only reason you're doing it is to access rules your army wouldn't have and not for fluff and i think if you like an army you shouldn't pretend they don't have a downside, but it's all perfectly legal so of course i'd play against it

That’s fine by me. You have a clear way of telling them apart. My rule of thumb is I like to have to keep track of 3 or less WYSWYG/counts-as/proxy issues. Remembering what base rim is what is a reasonably easy one to track.

I know, it's not very fluff-friendly, but I love the shooting support of Sniper Scouts and Centurions (With lascannons, because I don't like the cheese of grav- amps)

I would not mind it at all as long as it is obvious what unit is what. I actually prefer it if allies are painted in the same style it makes your army look like an army instead of a loose collection of units. Automatically Appended Next Post: Side note what i don't like is if I can't make a diffeeence between squads. I should always be able to tell what model belongs to what squad even if they are mixed up in te same combat. Automatically Appended Next Post: My solution would be.
-model everything with chapter specific upgrades
-paint themm all the same colorsceme but give the different chapters different acents.
-use base rims for different units and use a theme to differentiate between the chapters. For example metallics vs non metalics. Blues vs reds. Striped vs non striped et .

As far as scouts is concerned anyone who doesn't play all scouts and Dreadnoughts as updated to C: SM and C A isn't a human being
As far as Centurions is concerned i'll choke on that piece of fluff

Even if sticking within a single Codex, now more than ever is there a need to be able to discern easily what unit is from what detachment / formation.
I'd be absolutely fine playing against this. Base rims are visible from all round, and distinct colours for ease too. I think the only thing that stops this being more wide-spread is the aesthetic.

Only problem here would be simple: Which Chapter Tactics are you using for the Vanillas? Since they're all used as "Blood Angels", it'd be easy to forge what the Vanillas are "supposed" to be mechanically.

Sounds legit, there's no rules limiting paint color and codex for either of these... you've done more than many... for my white scar/ravenwing force its different helmets for sergeants to keep codices seperate, and I've taken that to tourneys with no complaints (though I go the the careful step of saying "the whitescar command squad will..." or "the ravenwing squad will..." any time I do anything with any model).

1. The allies rules allow you to build a force like this as long as the models are identifiable. It's a legal list.
2. Nothing wrong with a BA successor chapter of the 89347563rd founding having it's own uniform, fluff and tactical doctrine adapted from experience.

Blood Angels are a Codex adherent chapter. It would be conceivable that they could fight in the method of their vanilla brethren.
