Subject: Useless marks of chaos?

A few units in the Daemon list can take any of the four marks of chaos, but those marks don't appear to do anything on their own and I can't find any other units or spells that would have an impact based on having a particular mark of chaos.
For example, a soul grinder can take the Tzeentch keyword. As far as I can tell, doing so has no conceivable impact on the game, which seems... odd.
A few Warriors of Chaos models (like the chaos warshrine) have rules that target mortal Tzeentch units, but that's all I can find. Am I just missing something, or is this just currently a rule with no game impact (yet)?
On a slightly related note, I haven't find any totem/banner the affects daemons other than the Khorne-only portal of skulls from the starter set. Maybe also something to look for in future releases?

I unsure about Tzeentch, but I know that many of the Nurgle spells and abilities impact Nurgle and non-Nurgle units differently. A spell that damages a non-Nurgle unit might heal a Nurgle one. Morbidex Twiceborn's Nurgle's Rot ability is a good example. It hurts all units within range, but ignore Nurgle units (friend or foe).
Giving a Soul Grinder the Tzeentch keyword doesn't look like it currently does anything. Giving it the Nurgle keyword does currently do something. I'm sure they just gave you the option to add any of the four keywords. It would be silly to give you the option to make Nurgle Soul Grinders and not Tzeentch Soul Grinders.

Good point on the Nurgle keyword! I'll double check Saanesh too. Being able to search the PDFs is a welcome improvement to flipping through a bunch of books!
Agreed that it makes sense they'd give you the option for any of the four, since it would look odd not to, just wanted to check that I wasn't missing a mechanic.

My guess is that all the mark will become relevant again once all the chaos gods/fluff has been updated. At the moment they have only done Nurgle and Khorne so giving either of those marks will have a point. Unfortunately they haven't looked at Tzeentch or Slaneesh yet but they will get there and then all will be well.
Im hoping Tzeentch get foot soldiers other than Marauders or Warriors as I would like something fluffier and less boring. Also plastic Lord of Change!! *puts wish list away*

tzeentch chaos lord on a disc has a command ability that only effects mortals with the additional keyword of Tzeetch. Meaning you would have to declare their mark before hand.

Right, but a Soul Grinder isn't a mortal. Most marks seem to have some kind of interaction, this one just doesn't seem to trigger any rules.

Mark of Tzeentch on a Soul Grinder or Chaos Furies are the only two I'm aware of that have no benefit whatsoever. This is because the Tzeentch-buffing command abilities are either mortal-only or wizard-only, while the others have at least one thing that will benefit mortals and/or daemons of any type. Khorne and Nurgle obviously get the lion's share of the benefits though because of their wealth of synergy options (especially Nurgle because of the Glottkin). Presumably this will be resolved with future releases (I'd be very surprised if they did not).

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.
I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games. |

Some of the Times of War taking place in the realm of mettle have special interaction with Tzeentch sorcerers. Same goes for the brimstone peninsula and Khorn priests
