Basically, what it says up top. I know it can be done, but at say 1850pts, what units should I take? How should I kit my lords/sorcerers?
-Double CAD
-Each Lord/Sorcerer must fit its fluff
-Each Lord/Sorcerer should have a chunk of the force
(No Plague Marnie Spam with 3 random Chaos Lords/Sorcerers)
-Not Against Daemon Allies

Ooh, I absolutely tried to to this in my four horsemen of the apocalypse list, although it is kinda tricky.
Firstly, does it Have to be four lords, cos some sorcerers makes it a lot better?
The tricky bit is only the lords in the primary detachment unlock troop choices so,
Primary CAD
Nurgle Lord -bike/palanquin
Slaanesh Lord - steed/bike
Plague marines
Noise Marines
Second CAD
Tzeentch lord - disk (but works better as sorceror)
Khorne Lord- Jugger.
2 *cultists/marked marines.
Now at this point you can take four units of spawn and be done, or mix and match and try and do clever stuff like outflank with the slaanesh lord, or solo with the tzeentch one who has a decent save.
Use the two supplements to get the artefacts you need, say
Crimson slaughter primary so the nurgle lord can get a 2+.
Black legion on the other CAD could give the tzeentch lord/sorcerer the improved invulnerable save and last memory.

Veteran Knight Baron in a Crusader

Khorne Lord on Juggernaut with Axe of Blind Fury or Murder Sword. Run with spawn bodyguard.
Nugle Lord can be just about anything. Maybe just Power Armour or a Terminator to mix things up, with the others being mounted.
Slaanesh Lord on bike with Power fist & Lightning Claw. Run with some bikes for bodies.
Tzeetch would actually be better (both fluff-wise, and tactically in my opinion) to take a Sorcerer. Put him on disk with a Spell Familiar, have him fly around buffing your other units with powers of choice.
Very very expensive for an 1850 game, but will be fun.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)
2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)
Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan! |

Nurgle Lord should come from The Crimson Slaughter. Daemon heart, Horns, Bike, and the classic Power Fist and Claw combo.
Slaaneshi Lord will be from the same Supplement and will take that fancy power sword and on a steed.
Khorne Lord is vanilla and does the AoBF Juggerlord thing.
MoT Lord takes the Disc, Power Fist, and the Brand.

At 1850, no, it is not realistic. At 2500 you might be able to fit everything in fluffy but you're still missing out on the parts of army building that make things good. The only good anti-tank marked unit is Nurgle Obliterators. Bikes work, but two Melta and a Melta Bomb isn't great. But again that is Nurgle. Forge World is where the best anti-tank is but none of that screams Cult other than Blight Drones, Sonic Dreadnoughts, Decimators and Blood Slaughterers.
I've been able to represent everyone but Tzeentch at 1850pts, and if the rumored Sorcerer Conclave for Chaos is true, you can do Tzeentch over there at higher points. Nurgle Bikes and Obliterators, Slanneshi Chosen and Noise Marines, Khorne CSM Infiltrating in a massive blob. Tzeentch really needs support in the codex though before it becomes viable. There are no units that truly benefit from that Mark right now and taking up HQ slots with Lvl 3 Sorcerers is really kinda pointless in a TAC and balanced army. And I still have room to fit a Land Raider and a Sicaran. You'll have less points available with Lords but oh well.

I could bump it up to 2000, 2500isnt played very often but its doable.
Khorne Lord on a Jugger seems to be the general consensus for that lord and I'd have to agree. Next is spawn or bikes.
Nurgle(Lord/Sorcerer?) could really do anything, I like the thought of him on the palanquin tanking wounds for some CSM or part of a plague unit just for a change of pace and some variety.
Slaanesh on a bike would be good but I'm not a huge fan of a big bike list. Bike are effective don't get me wrong, but I don't want everyone and their patron god on a bike. What do you guys think about jumppacking him? again, for variety.
Tzeench Sorcerer on a disc seems the way to go. Any thoughts on running him in terminator armor? Or is the disc just too good to pass up?
I'm not too familiar with the supplements but I have been meaning to pick them up. Think the list really needs them?
Need something to crunch AV, have so far not used forgeworld, but again, not oppose, just not readily available.

The MoT Sorcerer is terrible. I'd rather have a MoT Lord and that's saying a lot.

Are you opposed to taking the named characters?
Typhus, for example, lets you take plague zombies - which are appropriate for him, cheap and tactically useful.
Kharn - unlike an axe of blind fury lord, Kharn's axe has armourbane. That means he can can-opener anything up to and including an Imperial Knight pretty damn fast IF you can get him into contact.
I keep meaning to do 'four horsemen' lists - I'm actually eyeing up the Chaos Knights at the moment; four knights with Daemon Knight Of () and one Legacy of Ruin will fill 1850 points quite nicely.

Kharn basically never makes it to combat. If he could, he'd be up there for one of the best characters in the game. A Juggerlord is potentially throwing out more attacks though, and you can get better AT in the form of Sicarans and Laser Vindicators.

Unrelenting Rubric Terminator of Tzeentch
|
Bare minimum using ideas from above;
Crimson Slaughter CAD (Primary)
195 - Lord, MoN, Bike, Daemonheart, Claw, Fist, Sigil [Warlord]
165 - Lord, MoS, Jump Pack, Blade, Horns, Sigil
150 - 5x Plague Marines, 2x Plasma
125 - 5x Noise Marines, Blastmaster
90 - 3x Bikers, 2x Melta Guns
CSM CAD
170 - Lord, MoK, Jugger, Axe, Sigil
170 - Lord, MoT, Disk, Murder Sword, Sigil
50 - 10x Cultists
50 - 10x Cultists
170 - Mandatory Heldrake
90 - 3x Spawn
115 - 5x Raptors, 2x Melta
228 - Mandatory 3x Nurgle Oblits
1768
You've got 82 points free. Perhaps ditch the Raptors and either the spawn or the bikers, turn the Tzeentch lord into a sorc to fish for endurance/invis/shrouded and simply cram them all into the spawn/biker unit?
Even at 2k, I'm not seeing it.

The Murder Sword is one of the worst Artifacts in the entire game.
Use those points for the fancy sword for the Slaaneshi Lord from The Crimson Slaughter supplement. Then leave the Horns for the Nurgle Lord because he is more durable and more likely to get into combat.
Melta Bombs on everyone is a necessity.
Just initial criticisms of that list.

It's doable you just won't have much else. Unbound could look like:
Khorne Lord, AoBF, Sigil, and Juggernaut: 170
5 Spawn: 150
Total: 320
Nurgle Lord, PF/LC, Sigil, Blight Grenades, Bike: 170
5 Nurgle Spawn: 180
Total: 350
These are the two I typically run. If you include Tz. Sorcerer and Slaanesh lord on Bike (same gear as the Nurgle Lord) each with their own Spawn or Bike escorts it actually wouldn't look half bad in terms of competitiveness. You're looking at 20 Spawn and 4 Lords weighing in at around 1400 points give or take. Then just add Maulerfiends to taste.

I would just stick with cheap min sized cultists to open up CADs, hold objectives, and die for CHAOS!!!!
Leave points for the deathstars since that's the theme. Unmarked spawn maybe, other Fast bikers or Raptors. Maybe some special Helbrutes.
