Got an early supposed leak of Tyranid playtest rules. Not sure I buy it for a number of reasons (including the doubt whether playtesting is actually done), but thought I'd share and let the community make it's own deductions:

Quick blog post with my thoughts as well

Eternal warrior huh? Interesting.

IMO, that's what they should have had in the beginning. Now fix Shadow in the Warp.

That's good, depending on whether or not they keep the psychic powers the same, Tyranid synapse creatures don't have to worry about having to rely on gaining FNP via the Catalyst psychic power.

It seems like wishlisting to me! Would be nice, but just seems coincidental for them to get Eternal Warrior when that's what everyone wants (remembering that GW doesn't take that into account ).

It would also be odd for someone to be able to snag a pic of only one single entry from a test codex like that, complete with art formatting.

From FTGTEvan's article:
FTGT Gaming Blog wrote:EDIT: To provide some salt - the fluff text, while verbatim from the old synapse rule, has an odd line break. Also, the rule text appears to be a different font than the one GW normally uses, similar, but not the same.

Those are good observations and I don't think anyone should get their hopes up for warriors / etc over this.

Seeing as how that paragraph is a grammatical disaster that no real game designer would ever even scribble on a napkin (never mind how it would get past an editor) I'm going to say fandex or trolling.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

Also, there is a pretty terrible run on sentence. While I would doubt edits are super high priority in a playtest ruleset, if they went to the effort of printing with graphics, would think there'd be some editing going on. Either way, I hope this is true, but not holding my breath.

I agree it's probably not real, but it being a grammatical mess doesn't actually mean anything where GW is concerned.

Yeah, thats fan rules, very obviously not written in the manner of GWs design studio, nor in the manner of a technical writer used by any other professional publisher.

If true I'm hoping to see a lot more Warrior heavy armies.

When I used to play Tyranids and 40k I always wanted to field tons of them but they always got insta-killed with relative ease.

Well, the forum is news And rumors even though I think this qualifies as the latter.

Are there other sources indicating Nids could be "on the horizon" (like 2016)?

Right, but this is pretty fake. And from a quick scan of the tracker there are NO rumors about upcoming Tyranids...

I put a similar rule in my fandex (minus the Eternal Warrior bit).

Then I decided it was to similar to Necrons and scrapped it.

So if this is a fake rumour and therefore by extension not news, can we lock this up

I hazard to guess the two would be released in proximity. A new Tyranid codex would be relatively low-hanging fruit, given all the stuff that was already released in Leviathan.

I also think that in this scenario, it's possible that Purestrains get removed from the Tyranid codex and put in a GCult book. Not saying I think it's probable, mind you...but possible, yes. There would be some design logic in a) using the GCult book as a means to improve and more fully develop Genestealers in the game, b) not listing the same unit twice in different books, and c) selling you two books and incentive to add to the Genestealer component of existing Tyranid armies (i.e. buy more models).

I agree that it's fandex material in the first post.

It looks like one of the 4chan Fandexes that cropped up after the 5th ed. Tyranid codex hit.

In fact, that very same 'rule' was what almost everyone and their dog here, elsewhere and anywhere whined Synapse should have been.
