We have a new far cry game in bound! and it has no guns! I kind of like this radical change and I like it. It's a radically different setting that ,I hope, invites some radically different gameplay style. No guns means the game might actually give melee more respect then an annoying QTE. (Oh help us if they don't improve melee depth because that would totally ruin the game.) I kind of worry they might not change enough. We know their will be human enemies and there is talk of outposts so they aren't reinventing the wheel entirely.

As the title goes, this game basically looks like ARK made to a AAA with all the + - that implies.

I was hoping for the next Far Cry to be in a desert/savannah, lIke in Africa, fighting lions and stuff. This changes my mind entirely. I wonder which animals we'll be seeing. Giant beaver, anyone?

It's Far Cry. I'm sure some sort of beaver will make an appearance at some point.

I am interested in this for sure. It is a setting that, to my knowledge has never really been explored. Sure, there are dinosaur games like Ark as someone mentioned, but those also have weird crafting and technology, and not really a focus on survival.

This is a pretty fresh setting, and I want to see how it goes.

It's close. They likely won't have the t-rex and such because they were long dead by this time, but I am getting strong ARK vibes with some of this. Like the hunting, crafting and there is even talk of a survival aspect to it. (Really want to see how they manage that and if they will do better then far cry 2.)

You know the thing that I think could end up being the best part might be the story. Far cry games always have this civilization vs primitive feel to them, but in this case you are primitive and ,what little we have seen of the human enemy, kind of suggest they are more civlized. We might get a nice kain and able story about the rise of civilization form the view of the people on the outside, but that is just me speculating way over much over a few screens.

The game is coming out next week. Here is some gameplay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kM47aBj6f0g&feature=youtu.be

I think I am more hyped then I should be for this game, but I really love the look of it. I like the look of the izila.

Ok, that video definitely caught my attention. I'm still curious to how melee itself works, since he just used a bunch of different ranged weapons. He did a takedown with a spear, and a jump attack, which are nothing new to Far Cry. Then again, there seems to be a nice variety of ranged weapons, so perhaps I shouldn't worry too much? I am also glad to see that the smashing power of the elephant in Far Cry 4 is still around. Not to forget that the bear was massive, and I can see myself keeping one of those around whenever I can.

I'll be waiting for this to get cheap before I buy it. Looks good, but not somethng I'm eager to throw $60 at right away.

The melee doesn't seem as good as I hoped. There is no blocking. You have two melee weapons. The spear strikes straight well the club swings in an arc.

Range seems to be a big component still. You have bow, spears, throwing clubs, bombs. It seems like every weapon can be used at range.

Oh you can ride the bear too

I suppose it makes sense that they would still lean towards ranged attacks as your go to, but I'm still a little disappointed. I'm also curious if your animals can die, or if they get wounded (like Skyrim, Fallout, etc and just sit down for a little bit), or flee the scene for X amount of time. I can see myself being overprotective of my animals, and definitely whoever kills my newfound pets will probably regret shortly afterwards. Yes, I'd be fussing over my 500 pound killing machine getting an arrow in its side, regardless if it then bites the attacker in two. I don't plan on changing either.

Anyone try this? Is it more of a multiplayer game or is there a good single player campaign?

No multiplayer or co-op at all. Of any kind.

I was hoping for co-op to play alongside my wife in the ay we did FC4. Seems she was really looking forward to it as well, given her reaction when I found out yesterday and told her that there's no co-op.

Very disappointed. I'll pick it up on superdiscount sale this or next Christmas instead of 2 copies, immediately.

The game is a club-em-up.

Its a sandbox arcade similar in playstyle to assassins creed with vast numbers of targets to chain-kill.

It does have a story though, tries not to be too linear and offers multiple ways to build character and overcome opponents which gives leeway for variety and replayability.

I will either buy this on whitebox if it dips below £10 or find a no commentary let's play on YouTube and watch it as a movie.

Review embargo? Its in open beta with Let's Plays, anyone can write anything about it except those who are on the betatest.
I have witnessed more hours of gameplay than many reviewers do while writing reviews.

It appears to me that the game is holding back the main part of the story so there is some surprise left for gamers. Though that wont last long. There are already over a dozen unedited lets plays out there and post releaase they will continue. Any secret this game has wont last long.

Well its Monday, reviews are coming out. First review I saw that says its very average, repetitive and recommended you dont buy.

I'm digging it.

I always love the stealth aspect of this game series, so that's all I pretty much do, aside from hunting to upgrade my gear or village. Trying to perfectly take outposts without being detected is great fun. If you tried to run and gun it (bows/spears/slings/clubs in place of gun) it would probably get repetitive fast. I wish there was a more hardcore mode though.

I give this game a 8/10.
