Hey as a still relatively new 40k player, the new Tau Codex is going to be the first time I have to update a codex. With that being said I wanted to know if using the Farsight Enclave supplemental codex would still be allowed in game play even after the new Tau Codex is released. If it is would you just update the stats of Commander Farsight and other units and keep the special rules, (such as Crisis suits as troop choices, Farsight commander team etc) or would they use the "old rules & stats" that are written in the supplemental codex. Any clarification would be appreciated. Thank you.

Difficult to say without seeing the Codex, as some change within could makes it impossible to apply the Supplement, similar to what occurred to the Eldar Supplement.
Assuming nothing like that exists, one would use the Rules found within the Supplement for any Unit selected for a 'Supplement Detachment.'

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

I'm pretty sure the supplement books just tell you to refer to the main codex for rules on units - while the supplement itself provides the rules for that faction. Such as units not normally troops being troops and so forth.

I would assume that you could, you would probably need to check with the people at your local gaming store though.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Not necessarily. The Eldar supplement does not work with the new codex, but Raukhaan and Sentinels of Terra do work with their new codex.

Is that something that was stated in the new codex that came out? Or is it just that the rules happen to work?

I think it is just how the rules happen to work.

Is the new codex even confirmed? I mean with some new units and all sure it has a 90% chance of comming but... has it actually been confirmed? This could be just another campaign book with formation and a few new units to sell new minis with no real new codex.

Like Deathstorm where the nyds got a few new toys but not new codex. The BA did thou, and it'd be silly if the Raven Guard/Marines get a new codex instead and leave the Tau with their old codex but with new formations. Still no confirmation I guess
