Soo. I got an Imperial Knight (the newer kit) the other day from my brother. Any suggestions what to set it up with?

What's there to elaborate on? You asked what to set it up with, he answered.

If you want some actual context, perhaps you should tell us which army it will be going in, what you've already got, if you intend to add anything else, what armies you usually face and what gives you trouble.

The Warden is the default anti everything choice, has lots of AP3 shots and rending for when that isn't enough, can point it's main guns skywards with enough shots that something will hit and the stormspear is onthe best option out of the 3 carapace options.

Yeah, warden with magnets would be the way to go.
Bare in mind that what is good this edition will be bad next edition or at least the sub optimal choices will be brought up to par.
Given the current Knight Codex release history you'll only have a few more months until the next one
An expensive kit with such obvious large interchangeable options is a prime candidate to learn the joy of magnets.

Adamantine Lance is still very good compared to baronial and exalted house and even oath sworn but the pitfall is apocalyptic blast scatter on to another knight due to 3" formation.

Also I prefer 3 rapid battle cannons.

At nearly 1200pts, for 3 paladins, and the remaining 650pts on any other army is the best configuration compared to 5 IK army.

Due to so many changes, I'd use magnets on everything.
Gives you far more variation on it and prevents new books making a large model useless.

For maximum variety of usefulness give it the regular D weapon (gauntlet is a downgrade due to I1, makes it so you can no longer fight other knights/Superheavies in melee) and then magnetize the guns and the top carapace.

Generally the rockets are seen as the best top weapon, because skyfire tends to be of limited usefulness. Melta doesn't make much sense because if you're that close to something you're just gonna D it to death.

I personally love the Chaingun one (warden I think) but I've seen the melta cannon do work too. I use it with AdMech (sometimes convocation if someone wants a tourney level game) so I need more anti infantry than extra anti tank (thanks to all the hYwire)

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Magnetise everything, both arms need doing so can go as crusader or gallant also. There are heaps of instructions on the interwebs. The only weapon I'd glue is the stubber/melta which is a hard choice but for gallants sake I'd go melta.

If possible magnetize it to get any variant you want. i have had pretty good luck with a Errant running the icarus autocannon array.

So I get a melta large blast, str D chainsword, and skyfire/interceptor autocannon.
