Greetings!

Been thinking of getting a knight to add to my Skitarii forces, something that would actually survive... The rule of cool has triumphed and I really want to get a Magaera. Before anyone goes into a rant, I know its weak but I don't care, it looks awesome.

However looking through its rules I am a bit confused about one bit. So under "Using the Questoris Knight Magaera in your army in games of Warhammer40k Codex: Imperial knight", it essentially says that I can't have more Magaera knights than other knights.

Does that mean if I want to bring a Magaera, I will need to bring at least 1 other knight? I don't wanna have to buy 2 knights just to field a particular knight I like. Though I have a feeling that's the case.

Rules can be found:

Cheers
Taemu

Don't worry, I'm in agreement with you. I don't find it to be that poor compared to the Helstorm one.

that is in a *knights* army, where you must have at least or more knights of other kinds then you do magaeras.

you are using an IOM man army, the same restriction does not actually apply.

but mechanicus doesnt have a LOW slot unless you take a cad :(

meaning you would have to take the lone knight as a detachment itself, which technically is a knights army detachment, but I wouldnt worry about this as
most FAQ's clarify that if its your only knight, you can take one.

By the rules you'll need to bring an Imperial Knights detachment because Skitarii have no detachments with a Lord of War slot, and are unable to be taken in a Combined Arms Detachment (as they have no HQ choice).

Being an Imperial Knights detachment, yes, you'll need to bring at least one knight of another kind.

Well there's always a cheap CAD like UM-SMs (Telion as HQ, 2 Scout Squads as Troops = 160pts, at 190 you even have useful guys w/Camo Cloaks + Sniper Rifles) to get a LoW slot (Any Imperial CAD will do).
If you prefer fluffy, go for a CAD of Cult Mechanicus - but that's more points than you'd pay for another (regular) Knight.
