The great battle of Eldar vs Chaos will be going on this Halloween! Pre-order tickets now or consult your pay-per-view provider.

The only unresolved question is... how? Between jetbikes that can move during the Assault phase and Psyker abilities that dismantle zergs (Apocalyptic Blast sounds more like an anime super hero's finishing attack), Eldar is already something of an uphill battle for Khorne's faithful. But no terror stands as great a threat as the Wraithknight, Devourer of Bloodthirsters, Stomper of Daemons, Sniper of Tanks. May He Reign Forever and Assimilate All Life!

How would you face such a beast? The colossal D axe is far too slow to survive even if you managed to close into combat with one. As it cannot be summoned, you're more likely to suffer a few wounds before closing the gap (if it's possible at all) even if you take multiples.

It's called a thick skin. The Jersey born have it innately.

Ally in something that can make your D-axe invisible, then go wraithknight hunting.

EDIT: If you can get belakor, he is a great addition to an assault list. He can cast invisibility on himself, then cast shrouding for a 6" bubble of +2 cover saves...meaning your FMCs are now jinking for 2+ cover. You can also string your hounds out, and if they can find some ruins on their way to the enemy they too will get a 2+ save. It's not infallible and you'll still take casualties, but it can help you survive long enough to close the distance.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Be'lakor himself can kill Wraithknights. If he casts Invis on himself and stays on the ground, he can hit it on 3s and wound it on 2s thanks to Fleshbane. He also denies its armor save, forcing it to rely on FNP instead. May need two rounds of combat, and some unlucky die rolls can really hurt him, but it could work.

As for the KDK codex itself, I suspect Goredrinker on a Juggerlord could work once it has been properly powered up, but your Lord has to survive that long. The two non-D Bloodthirsters could do some damage, too, since they would swing first and Instant Death, while it does not actually fell a GC in one swing, can cause more wounds. The Wrath of Khorne one in particular could be mean if the Wraithknight is a character (not sure if it is or not, I don't play Eldar) since it gets Hatred against characters.

I've had luck with the Belakor/Kytan combo.

Cast invisible on the Kytan and try to get him close to the WK... At the same time, Belakor with his shadow form is gliding towards the WK... If either one makes it- they can kill it.

There is no way to win. Best off to just surrender and have a good brew instead.

Since its on Halloween - perhaps donning a costume and partaking in a social gathering of some kind with musical background and other like minded people?

Or just stay at home and load up the ol' "generic brand gaming console" - and blast some noob who says he procreated with your female forebearer, while calling you a happy cigarette.

Invisibility is a way to go. Sadly, there is a solid chance of mutually assured destruction as the stomps go simul with the thirster.

Beyond screams, Be'lakor, and the D-thirster. the only other option I have found to be successful is misfortune followed by a pack of dogs with rage. 20 of which, without prescience, should do on average 6 wounds, killing it. Sprinkle with prescience and screams before charging for optimum effect.

Aftermath can be calculated.

Agreed on the dogs. A Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage is a pretty good trade for an Imperial Knight - it's not going to do too much damage on the charge in, and it's low WS and A mean it probably won't drop you before you swing.

A wraithknight is cheaper and much better armed (if it's got either a ghostglaive or wraithcannons) for killing big monsters. Your likely return is a bit too low

Btw just FYI, but a WK is hitting a Thirster on 5's naturally. WS4 vs WS10.

...Oh, sorry. It's initiative 5, isn't it, not WS5.

In which case you've got a decent chance of living if you survive the charge up the board.

It's still a riskier trade than a knight in my head, because generally you're taking 2-4 shots from heavy wraithcannons, or else many, many scatterlaser bursts from the wing mounts, and you're taking out a much less valuable unit, but if it's also on 5's to hit, you've got a better chance of surviving a ghostglaive swinging - and if you get to swing the Great Axe, the scattershield probably won't matter, with 8 attacks your odds of getting a deathblow result are pretty good.

Yeah the biggest problem with the D-thirster really is surviving long enough to get into combat with the Wraithknight. The fact that it can move as fast as you can yet has ranged D weapons compounds the issue. With its friends helping, the thirster is toast. Only thing a guy can do is run TWO of them and hope one makes it.

The hounds sound like the better approach. That'll probably be what gets done to face this thing.
