hello! all of my friends are always talking about different 40k conspiracy theories. i dont know any of them so could someone please tell me the ones they know?

Mine is the Emperor woke up the Tyranids and is a beacon for them, so that is why they are heading towards Earth.

Here is another, Dark Angels are really the Fallen and the Fallen are really the Dark Angels.

Also Alpha Legion are really Loyal to the Emperor but only act like they are working for Chaos.

Conspiracy theories, huh? Keeping in mind that what's true for conspiracy theories in real life is even moreso for WH40k lore (that is to say, most of 'em are completely made-up paranoid ranting)... here's a few of my favorites.

The God-Emperor of Mankind is Malal incarnated in human form.

Eldar implanted a kidnapped alien queen's pheremone-organ into the Ethereal Caste of the Tau for the lulz.

The Tau Empire is relevant in the current timeline.

Chaos does not exist.
It is a plot by the Imperial leadership to keep their citizens down. All dissidence is accused of Chaos worship to silence their opinions. Regular "Chaos" raids (staged by Imperial special forces) make sure the population keeps looking to the Imperium as necessary for protection, and their hatred for Chaos makes sure that any "heretics" (political opponents) are quickly silenced.
When a planet does rebel, it is destroyed under the guise of having fallen to Chaos, so that no one will start asking questions.
Xenos do not exist either, the Imperium controls the entire galaxy. It is just like 1984, really.

I've always enjoyed this theory about the Emperor, Horus, and the forces of Chaos (presented in well-written fanfiction form).

The long and short of it is that Horus is actually on the Golden Throne due to illusion shenanigans, the souls sacrificed to maintain the Astronomicon are increasing his power, and the Chaos battlecry of "Death to the False Emperor!" is actually their promise of vengeance over Horus' betrayal of the Chaos Gods in his personal quest for power.

An engaging read, and just plausible enough to make you wonder.

The emperor really is dead (not almost dead)... the tyranids are no longer held at bay because of this, the tau are powerful, chaos is devouribg everything, and the imperium is dying because of all listed above.

Oh, and the primarchs are about to return to turn the tide

Malcador the Sigilite was really the Emperor, and what everyone thought was the Big E was really just a psychically puppeted meatsuit.

Prince Yriel is half Dark Eldar.

Drazhar is the Arhra, the first Striking Scorpion Phoenix Lord. (This one is pretty obvious.)

The Ethereals exert Orwellian influence over the Tau empire through a combination of mental, emotional, social, subliminal, chemical, technological, and/or genetic manipulation. (Also, super obvious if you read between the lines.)

The Ethereals aren't actually a separate caste, but rather a group of intelligent Tau that can be adept at most things. As such, there are many conspiracy theories built around them, such as the Vespid helmets, when in reality they are mostly innocent outside of their skills of demagoguery.

The Chaos Gods actually won the Heresy. They need opposition to survive and this long stagnant stalemated mess entertains most wondrously after all an outright victor would be ordered and boring.

If that's the case then the Admech must be quickly becoming Necrons.

The main two I know of is that The Silent King made the Tau so he could reverse-biotransferance their minds into Tau bodies and get their souls.
That's why he's waking up the dynasties to stop the tyranids from eating them.

Legion of the Damned is the Emperors Daemons.

The Grey Knights Secret Box contains a Key to the innermost chamber of the Omega Vault, within it lies an ancient device.
When activated, it consumes the souls of every human soul in the universe, feeding them into the Golden Throne.
This creates a new eye of terror and fully solidifies the Emperor into realspace.
The only way for the Chaos gods to fight this is by sacrificing their individuality to become Unified Chaos.
The God-Emperor and his daemons and Unified Chaos and their daemons fight for all eternity.
This was all planned by the Emperor as revenge for Chaos corrupting his sons.

That's the first I've heard of the Emprah being a beacon for the Nids. Interesting.

The Necrons are actually time-travelling Adeptus Mechanicus. A faction of Mechanicus discovered a time-travel device, and went back in time with a ship to attempt to locate an intact STC. Unfortunately, they screwed up, went back 100 million years, and had to form a settlement on a hostile planet. They had to turn to technology to survive, augmenting themselves even further. Due to the warp being calm because it was before Chaos was created, they could not travel faster than light, so had to spread using STL tech.
They found C'Tan, thinking them to be angels of the Machine God and declared war on the Old Ones to steal their tech. Cue Necron fluff.

Proof:
-Mechanicus emblem is a skull. Necrons all have skulls.
-There are a lot of wires on Mechanicus art. Necrons also have wires.
-Ordo Chronos disappeared with their time travel stuff. The Mechanicus obviously took it.
-Some Necrons have robes. So do Mechanicus.
-Mechanicus wants to become robots. Necrons are robots, so Mechanicus would want to be Necrons.

Roboute Gilliman was a Lord Commander of the Imperial Guard regiment that cleaned up the mess caused when two Primarchs killed each other during a brief three-way civil war. One entire Legion was destroyed by Gilliman, for which he was rewarded by being uplifted to Primach status and given command of a new Legion based on his geneseed. Of the two remaining Legions, one was the Crimson Fists (the 2nd Legion) which was absorbed by Rogol Dorn's Iron Fists, while the other was Omegon's Omni Legion (the 11th Legion) which was absorbed by Alpharious' Alpha Legion.

The source of this conspiracy can be found throught the 1st and 2nd edition background fluff for the Space Marines, which gives it more credence than most of the other theories.


Another conspiracy is the supression of the existance of the Emperor's bloodline. There was a background thread introduced into the early fluff about direct decedents of the Emperor being immortals know as Sensei, with at least three known examples being Malcador the Sigilite, St. Celestine of the Adapta Sororitas, and Justicar Thawn of the Grey Knights.
