Skarbrand only has the tattered remains of his after being smacked down by Khorne.

Not really. The closest you'll probably get is Skarbrand, whose wins got torn to crap after he got pimp slapped across the warp by Khorne

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

But fluff-wise, it seems to me there should be wingless Bloodthirsters.

They'd undoubtedly be relatively rare and would have had to suffer horrific injuries (such as Skarbrand's) or some sort of defect, but I'd be willing to bet that Skarbrand is not the only one.

Possibly, it all depends on Khorne's whim at the time the Bloodthirster was birthed. Perhaps we only see winged Bloodthirsters because they do most of the real space fighting, being higher up the hierarchy and the wingless ones are stuck performing guard duty in the realm of Chaos.

The description in the Codex has always had them as winged though.

I don't know about that, the Daemonkin codex says that Unfettered Fury Bloodthirsters are the "lowest" order, and they have wings. It wouldn't really make sense for Khorne to create a less-perfect killing machine intentionally, either.

Was just a musing, i've not given the Daemonkin codex much of a look at. Would not having wings really make it less perfect and killy, if having wings makes something better at killing stuff why don't Boodletters have wings, or Chaos Hounds or Juggernauts?

I would assume lesser daemons can just be popped out at low cost of whatever it is the Chaos gods use to make them, so they don't really need too much more than numbers. If you're going to take the effort to make a greater daemon, may as well do it right.

I wouldn't imagine that it would take too much more power and if giving something wings makes something even more killy, like you say, then it would be a reward in itself enhancing their ability to kill.

Like the Codex says, Bloodthirsters are winged, which I pointed out. But maybe there are other varieties that exist that we don't know about. Anything is possible in the realm of Chaos. Or maybe they would be called a Bloodstalker

Samus is a good example of a wingless greater daemon(Prince?) of khorne.

As others have said, bloodthirsters have wings, but khorne can make anything if he wants. But he's not known for imagination

Although saying that he does make a lot of daemon engines. How about the kytan ?

I think Samus is a Daemon Prince, the Daemon Prince of the Ruinstorm.

He's Khorne now but he never struck me as being Khornate, I always imagined more Nurgle really.

Khornate daemons are designed as the archetypical Demon, with red scaly skin and fire and blood etc. A giant creature with the head of the goat and bat wings is archetypically Demonic so I doubt there are any without wings that haven't been pimp-slapped by Khorne himself.

Well the Bloodthirster is *basically* a Balrog. If I remember rightly in the Silmarillion there are wingless Balrogs and the winged ones are like the upgraded version. Come to think of it I might be thinking of the first dragons, but a wingless Bloodthirster would still be pretty cool!

basically, i started making up a custom bloodthirster, and haven't liked any of the wings i've tried on him. so… probably will just leave him wingless. haha.
interesting that there aren't variants on that in the fluff though...

As long as the custom Blood Thirster didn't look like a Daemon Prince it should be easy to just count it as such and say it flies with its powers or some junk like that.

Note that 'daemonic flight' isn't necessarily the same as having wings. Put him on some chunks of floating stone or something?

I refer you to the old Warmaster Daemons army list:
Greater Daemons can fly regardless of whether the actual model has wings - aerial propulsion is deemed feasible by sheer effort of will (don't try this at home…)./quote]
