So, just starting out again after a looong break. I love the Ariadnan sectorials, so I've got my models together and I'm seeing what lists I can make for these sectorials (that I'm likely to get painted anytime soon, hence the 200 limit). This is what I've landed on for the Jocks, Frogs and Seppos. They are probably awful, just mostly using the models I liked the look of most upon returning. So feel free to tear them apart

That way,then left

I mostly play Merovingians so I'll start with that. A forward observer (or 3) in that Briscard team works great.I'm not convinced by medics on those frail minis who will likely fail their PHY check
I'm also afraid that your Lieutnant is a bit obvious but that's not as bad nowadays

Can be 1 of 3 LTs, some more FOs and extra mines?

You're lacking on things that kill armor. For the French that kind of thing is hard to come by. Bruant is good in a 5 man metro link as are the infiltrating moblot loadouts.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

Hmm... so maybe something like this? Keeping the link team there but weaker, losing a chasseur and the AD guy to get 2 infiltrating hitters, and some more order monkeys. This would mean I'd have to pick up another Moblot, but there's always the box breaker bloke here I can hit up for that hopefully.

Does losing the extra burst make the rocket launcher not really worth it now? I like the model but I'm not set on it being in the team, just a sniper could do me.

Edit: Oooh, Or I could drop the Rocket, and add a Zouave and turn one of the Moblots into a Sapper. Give me another HMG, lose no DEP. And I actually have the moblot sapper model because he's sweeeeeet. So that's another positive there.

Actually quite a goot Idea with a Zouave Sapper! I would recomend a 112 though, you'll need it!

And consider to get five Metros you'll get a HMG for 0.5 SWC thats soooo good! Thanks to that you can actually afford your beloved Sapper

Can I ask why the Zouave over the Moblot Sapper? Is it because Mech Deployment gives him a larger deployment zone in which to pick his spot to dig in?

edit: Oh my word, the Zouave Sapper model is just as good, if not better, than the Moblot one. I now don't mind which one I pick, so I'm open to being convinced away from the Moblot ha

Mainly beacuse of that 0.5 SWC discount in comparision to the Moblot, that gives you the second HMG with B5.
Also thanks to the Mechanized Deployment's benefits you'll have your Zouave in a way better position for Suppression Fire without spending orders to get him there

Zouave sapper is both cheaper in SWC and points, and easier to move upfield with Mech deployment. Starting in your DZ in a foxhole is kind of meh...starting half way up the field in a foxhole is amazing by comparison. He's a great ARO piece.

Zouaves are kind of interesting...I don't see a lot of people using them but every time I've run one he's done well. Assault pistols are no joke and synergize really well with rifles since Ariadnans generally don't pack Combis.

(may have made an error with his list, the Naga may not be a minelayer). Tied game 3-3 in the end (after my Lt critted on a 1 to take his NWI officer down). A more in depth understanding of the rules would have seen me trigger dogged on the greys a bit in the last turn which would have saved me with holding one of the zones, putting it to 6-3. So yeah, back into it and had a blast.

Which mission did you play? I'm wondering if you would give us a brief battle reportish summary of your game

The one with the quarters in the middle that you control through points. I want to call it Quadrant Control? He won the WIP roll and picked the side and I deployed first, so I went first. The greys linked up on the left, the doctor behind them, the SAS and Uxia were centralish up the field, with the cateran and volunteers on my right. He had everyone mostly central, with his Naga forwards central (with his mine .0001" outside trigger range from my SASCRAP haha poor guy) and his TO guy invisible on my Grey's flank.

I pulled engineer something and forward observer the HVT for my special objectives, so I defaulted to having someone in B2B with my HVT at the end of the game (that's how that one works right?) And he pulled the spot HVT with an FO/Spotlight Hack for his.

Turn 1 saw me spend an order on Uxia, walk around a corner, realise I can't shoot anything, get discovered, try and smoke dodge the bot shooting me in ARO and fail and go unconscious. Good start. Then the greys advanced and took cover on the left, taking the two left zones, and the SAS skirted the mine to go B2B with the HVT.

His turn 1 saw his Daktini with Combi rifle put the HMG Grey into unconscious, then the TO Camo guy popped up and put one of the other Greys into unconscious, leaving me with 1 Grey hiding in a doorway and a doctor way back on my left flank. The surviving Grey then ARO'd his Myrmidon Officer putting him on NWI, as well as getting revenge on the Daktini and making him unconscious. His other stuff just advanced. This gave him 2 zones to my 1.

My turn 2 saw my cateran stand up, put down the Daktini LGL with 1 of his 2 shots but lost the F2F with the MSV guy and go unconscious. Then my Grey killed his TO guy with his light shotguns but got hit by the MSV guy as well and go down. Then my doctor cautious moved (what a cool order) the last stretch to the Grey with HMG and got her up, then again with the Grey who killed the TO guy, and then the HMG went to work and killed the MSV guy. His turn 2 saw lots of running around, he put a repeater down with his hacker near my greys because he didn't read his objective, then another down near the HVT but then he was out of orders. Oh and he brought his AD guy in behind my greys but it wasn't worth enough to contest against 2 greys. This gave me 3 zones to his 1.

Turn 3 saw me try and Light Shotgun his bot and fail to kill it, my volunteers advance and the Chain Rifle guy got to within 4 of the HVT, AROs to his hack attempt on the HVT (which failed) put his Hacker into NWI and my SAS go up and try and Chain rifle the Hacker and Naga but both passed their armour checks. At this point I was holding 3 zones. He then went, his Bot put my rifle/Light Shotgun Grey into unconscious (here is where if I'd known how Dogged worked I could have gone dogged and probably won), then walk around and unconscious the AP HMG grey as well, claiming that zone for him. His officer then shot once at my 2 visible volunteers (chain rifle and LT), chain rifle dodged and LT passed his armour. Then he tried it again, chain rifle failed to dodge (nooo, success here brings me B2B with the HVT!!) and my LT crit on a 1 to take him from NWI to dead.

This left him with the Naga and Hacker in one zone, the Drop bot in the other, and my doctor in one and 2 volunteers in the other, for 2-2 zones at the end. So yeah, great fun and I'm pumped for more games

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

That really reads like an exciting game! My suggestion for your future games: try to choose the 2nd turn even if you have to deploy first, the allowance to steal your opponent two orders is really useful in 200 point games, especially if you face such few orders (in this case he'd be left with only four orders and spending the orders of the jump bot or the to guy would't help too much regarding his order pool).

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't matter if your troopers are in the Dogged state or unconscious regarding the occupation of a quadrant since the troopers fall dead at the end of the corresponding player turn. Thus they're in a null state when the quadrant points are counted.
But they might have killed some of your opponent's troopers during their dogged state

I hadn't considered that, I was just going from memory from 2nd ed, which was very much if you have to deploy first you may as well go first. At least at the levels I was playing haha. That's a good point though. I also love the idea of large games being able to go "first turn 1 command token have fun buddy" when they're playing a swarm-y ariadna or haqq army or something.

With the lack of pictures etc it's hard to say, but the grey who went dogged was in between the Drop bot and the HMG grey, so he would have had to go further around the corner, then further in to get within the 8, the whole time the dogged grey is either shooting or dodging to swing at him in CC, or throwing smoke to stop him getting LoS or anything really, meaning he has to waste more orders to take care of him then not get to the HMG guy, etc. It made sense with the table as it was haha.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...
