Hi there!
I'm currently an AM player, typical Mech Vets and all, and I'm going to be expanding my army later on into the Inquisition and Deathwatch territory! I already have my xeno inquisition goons sorted for now, however I wanted to have a little flavour with my deathwatch (going to use regular marine codex). I don't know much about ALL the kinds of SM chapters, but I wanted to have more of the obscure chapters that ain't as popular as say Imperial Fists or Ultramarines and figured folks here would know more; I already figured to have Lamenters hold a plasma gun (unlucky sods), but what other lesser-know chapters are there with some of their own interesting backstories and known methods of combat? Thanks for reading!

Carcharodons Astra and the Minotaurs are immensely popular for a reason.

Sons of Orar are a likely Ultramarines descendant (without much backstory) but I ended up picking them for my Epic: Armageddon marines just to have something red to paint. I believe they were originally the personal army of one of the GW studio guys and were known as Tyranid hunters, but somehow that fluff has disappeared.
Howling Griffons are another Ultramarines successor with an even niftier scheme (red and yellow quartered) and are one of the chapters that participated in the Badab War.
I've also always liked the Storm Lords; White Scars descendants with a bisected red and white scheme. They have a reputation for hunting Ork warlords.

Death Spectres and Mantis Warriors have cool fluff and maybe Relictors.

Exorcists might be neat considering they are primarily (but not solely) a daemon fighting chapter which does so by effectively becoming psychic blanks via exorcising themselves and thus rendering themselves "invisible" to most daemons and possibly to most warp based scrying or readings. Might make them handy against Eldar and other warp affluent species.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

I think Death Spectres can fit Deathwatch very well. If I'm correct, their fortress is located near the Ghoul Stars, on the North-eastern Fringe of the Milky Way and they are supposed to watch for this dangerous area. Secret xenos threats are lurking there, and they are there to make sure these threats would never come back. My Watch Captain is underway and I chose to make him part of this Chapter!
Besides that, my Deathwatch Kill team currently include every major chapter plus marines from the Carcharodon Astra, Blood Ravens, Red Scorpions, Lamenters and even a Grey Knight I wanted to paint. He's like a special operative seconded for a very specific daemonic-xenos threat. It's kind of ad hoc fluff but it's just an excuse to paint him black
Anyway, if you want more insight on Deathwatch, I strongly suggest you to read Fantasy Flight Games roleplay background. That's amazing.

Glass throne is nice piece of fluff for them...
Deathwatch is interesing koncept as you can put together chapters that have interesing interactions. Like Wolves, Ravens and Templars in one kill team

You can even integrate "punished" chapters like those who fought the Badab War on the wrong side or even Black Shields, which are marines coming from unknown Chapters and shrouded in shame and mystery.
I fething love Deathwatch !!

You can pretty much just pick any Chapter that picks your fancy at the time of painting. My own kill team has marines from each first founding chapter, and other chapters which broaden out the colour scheme (Aurora Chapter, Black Templars, Emperor's Scythes, Minotaurs, even an Astral Knight in there somewhere!)

Well, I'd take Sternguard, Vanguard, Veterans or a Cmd squad to represent a Deathwatch unit.

Here is the list of chapters for the Deathwatch pen and paper. I've always been a big fan of Blood Ravens librarians and Storm Wardens tacticals with Hammers of Dorn terminators.

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress

It should be noted that, with only a very small number of exceptions (GK being 3 such exceptions) every Loyalist Marine Chapter will be tasked, at some point, to provide Marines for the Deathwatch. Chapters consider this an honor, and tend to send some of their best-and-brightest to represent them to the Inquisition and to other Chapters.
