I love names like flying circus, and super friends. Does anyone here have some good funny names for op army builds and lists.

Edit: why not include funny unit names too?

Fond of the old Necron "Flying Bakery".

As a stand-alone unit, Assholetep takes the cake, though.

Not Troll-zyn?

Also my favourite is still the "Barrel of Monkeys" Jokaero list.

Scatbikes is another one, if you know what the slang for the first part of that means. Grav-Cents also makes me giggle for some reason, I'm imagining a very heavy penny.

Not sure its really funny, but I call my Ravenwing/Deathwing lists RavenDeath. Sounds like some kind of heavy metal band, or something.

It's actually one of my pet peeves: the insistence on a catchy/silly name for an army build or conversion. It's often something non-intuitive, too, so unless you're in on the joke, it's not particularly useful as a descriptor.

Some of them are indicative of what they're suppose to be.

Nidzilla is named because it's "Tyranid + Godzilla" and Godzilla is most well known for being about giant monsters. Nidzlla thus being centered around having a lot of MCs make sense, since it's all about giant monsters.

Flying Circus too, since it's a bunch of giant animals flying around doing random shenanigans, which is basically what a circus does, but flying.

It's stuff like "Loganwing" that gets people confused, since it in of itself is a reference to something within the game, rather than a common thing (That would be Logan, the character, making Wolf Guard Terminators Troops, which was what Deathwing was about. there's no way someone would understand that name right off the bat).

It's a list I wrote up a few weeks back to test. I find it quite a fitting name.

Between

I used to call my 5th edition Necron list 'Anthistan'.

For those who don't know, Anthistan is an allergy medication. It also sounds a bit like anti-star, which references the idea of a 'death star' army list that puts everything into one super-unit.

The core precept of Anthistan is that it abuses the Royal Court mechanic to create the ultimate dick unit. It's not actually that killy, but it's very good at making the enemy suffer, between anti-charge upgrades (lightning field, seismic crucible), five sets of mindshackle scarabs, two AP1 Wall of Death rolls (admittedly mostly wounding on 6s), teleporting every turn with a Veil of Darkness, having Zahndrek, a 4+ ressurection protocols, and more 3++ saves than you can shake a stick at.

What does it do? It teleports right up next to the enemy's death star, then Runs into a semi-circle to block said unit from going anywhere without going through the Court. This leaves the enemy with two choices: Go the long way round and keep being blocked like a sadistic level of Lemmings, or assault the Royal Court and take the pain. Even if you then Hit and Run past it, it just teleports again and blocks you, so you're forced to deal with the Court.

The rest of the army is then Obyron, another Royal Court and an Overlord set up to support other units, and two big units of Immortals - both teleport due to a second Veil from the other court and Obyron's ghostwalk mantle, at least until the deathstar takes the bait and pulls Oby over to the Anthistan court - but by that point, his Immortal unit is already sitting pretty on an objective waiting for the game to end.

... I really hate deathstars.

My friend calls this one "Semi-Cheese". It's only a standard CAD. He says its unstoppable and overpowered. He plays NIds and even has a Flyrant. I refer to it jokingly as semi-cheese. I'm not sure he is picking up on my sarcasm. If he can ever beat this I'll move up to something a little tougher. Sometimes I'll chuck in a Stormsurge if I'm bored.

My friends always call my list "Azhole and friends" or "Azhole visits the library", it's just a single blob squad of Azrael and his buddies. I usually run something along the lines of Azrael, a company commander, a full librarius conclave (all level two), all circled by a group of constantly jinking ravening command squad, possibly with a darkshroud.

It's utterly stupid, both in its absolute devastation of anything that comes near it but also the fact that my entire army is one squad... that can't even do anything against armor and spends most of the game just slowly chasing down something to obliterate.

Dark Eldar have The Freakshow, there's been a shlew of things that end in the word '-Wing' such as Draigowing, Wraithwing, Orks have always had the Greentide.

Run The Freakshow myself, it's a really fun Dark Eldar/Halequins list that works off of leadership shenanigans.
