Started out with Battlefleet Gothic after inspiration from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0epmk_4M3s

Mostly conversions based on tyranid bits, except 2 hive ships ordered from China.

About 1500 pts.

I recommend Nids for anyone who want to try BFG, allthough they are not very 'standard' to play with. The official GW models didn't seem to focus any on wysiwyg weapons modelling, so I completely ignored it too.

Unfortunately a Deepcut studio space mat was forgotten at a friend's house when taking photos.

Really awesome stuff! I love it.

I've done the same thing - bought like $50 worth of Tyranid bits off eBay, combined with leftovers I had, and built a big fleet for myself! I hate to hijack the thread with photos of my own unless you let me post pics.

They aren't painted, so yours are better than mine by default.

Hey let's share the hive fleets, would be inspirational to see how you created your models!

Good thing about nids is that you can keep buying bits to make ships, but for other fleets, it can be difficult getting models. And also that are models is plastic.

Awesome thanks. Yeah I agree about the parts, the only reason I even decided to build a fleet - despite never playing BFG even once (that will change if they resurrect the game as rumors have it) - I realized I had enough to build a really convincing fleet from scratch.

Still deciding if I should paint them according to my ground fleet colors, or keep them as I'd imagine a space fleet would look: gray and dull with minimal coloring, as it'd be pointless in space right?

Really great, creative use of bits, both of you. I'm surprised I haven't seen this before, now that you guys have shown your work it seems so obvious.

Thanks for sharing!

These look awesome. With the mountain of bits I have from my Nids this will definitely happen if I can get some interest in BFG built up here.

Love both of those fleets! Really imaginative use of bits - always fancied starting up BFG- hopefully the new Specialist Games division will bring it back soon!

I do love a good Tyrannid Bitz fleet. I'll do my own some day. The arching black bases are cool - what are they from?

I was looking for flight bases since I had very few from 40k and needed about 20-30 to fill up a fleet.

Luckily there was already a discussion about it on dakka:

Which led me to this store for flight stands with magnets. Can choose different colors too. The black opaque was very shiny so it attrackts alot of dust and fingerprint though.
