Glorious Lord of Chaos

The burning pits of Hades, also known as Sweden in summer

As time passes, my temptation to get a Glaive rises. It is one of the sexiest tanks I have ever seen and feels a bit more reasonable than a Typhon. What are your thoughts on it?

I think I'd buy one on the strength of the model alone. Such a cool tank. I too am debating between the two tanks. Being able to field the Typhon in both systems is very tempting but the Glaive is just so damn cool.

The Glaive is a masterful tank. It will wreak havoc on the battlefield against Infantry, tanks, fortifications and other Superheavys/Gargantuan Creatures.

I own both the Typhon and a Glaive personally and While I enjoy both, (though I feel the Typhon fires giant exploding middle fingers at your opponent). If I had to pick one or the other, I would pick the Glaive, as I find it much more fun to field.

I will get the Typhon, as it is most fitting for an IW force, but I absolutely love the looks of the Falchion.
I would probably get a Fellblade over either a Falchion or Glaive because even though the Falchion and Glaive are more cool, the Fellblade can also be used in 40k.

I personally chose the Glaive. Cool looking model (you can always just count it as a Fellblade in 40K).
One important thing to remember that I've seen some people miss: because the Volkite gun on it has the Haywire rule, you don't hit vehicles using the gun's strength; just the Haywire hits.

Fluffwise the Typhon.
But the Glaive looks more stylish.

The Glaive is indeed a great looking model. Along with the Fellblade and Falchion, it's my favorite vehicle from Forge World's current line-up.

Too bad I can't use any of them without somebody possibly getting snooty about it.

You sure about that? Wouldn't it be both?

The Haywire rules explicitly state that you roll on the Haywire table rather that rolling for armor penetration.

I love the Glaive. Great super heavy tank! When I think of 30K tanks though, I think Fellblade. No other tank defines the strength of the Legions better then a Fellblade.

Would you keep the ap of the hit or straight up use the Haywire chart?

On a roll of a you get a penetrating hit, it does not say you downgrade the hit to AP- so you still +1 to the table from the AP2 mate.

Just keep in mind that Titans can now pretty much shrug off haywire.

8000 points of XI Legion the Space Vagabonds, they can adapt their tactics to represent any and every Legion and Chapter as needed because they were created by the Emperor to be the ultimate tactical power. They have faked their disappearance in order to infiltrate every part of the conflicts in the galaxy.

8000 points of Tau/Craftworld Eldar/Necron because the Space Vagabonds can also emulate their wargear and tactics.

Victories: ALL
Losses: NONE (My armies have the psychic ability to conjure a cataclysmic storm whenever they are about to lose. This allows the Space Vagabonds to teleport away while releasing power waves that destroys the battlefield and so every battle is a victory)

Indeed, which is where the Str and Ap of the weapon come into play, plus the D3 hits against them. It can still do damage.

Last I checked, haywire replaces the penetration roll so you don't get to use the gun's Strength against armor.

That leaves you with 1+d3 poor shots vs Titans, which is worth knowing when deciding what the Glaive can or can't deal with.

Not really, it's fairly unequivocal.

"When a weapon with this rule hits a vehicle, roll a D6 to determine the effect, rather than rolling for penetration normally"

Does the Glaive have rules for 40k? Genuinely curious as I haven't seen the model until just looking at it. MAN it looks great.

No, only the Fellblade, which is why that's the one I chose, so it can pull double duty in a traitor 30K and 40K CSM army.

No, no official rules but If you're playing it in 40k just call it a fancy Shadowsword or something. Ginormous energy cannon is ginormous, and all that.

Honestly, I'd have no issue with someone using it as a Glaive in 40K, but I'm aware others aren't necessarily as liberal.
