If true that's just about the most ridiculous release in the history of 40k. I can understand why GW likes releasing space marines but even so there's a whole host of other space marine characters that needed a new model first. The current model still fits with the current range, scales well and is a really great model. The new model looks great but replacing the existing model at this juncture feels premature.

The current model fits with the current range because it *is* part of the current range. Its literally a primaris model with a primaris honor guard.

Misses the head though. Could be an Ork - I mean this armour and the weapons are the dream of every Deathskull.

It could be an alternative – in Terminator armour rather than Gravis armour.

It's just the Ultramarine Equal Attention Chapter Master, not sure what the problem is

Likely the headliner character for an Assault Terminator release.

Calgar will need to eject a power fist to use that sword.

All the talk about how Drukhari got their range gutted is just fueling my belief that they will be the launch box bad guys in 11th next year. I bet we'll get plastic versions of a lot of their range like Grotesques and stuff. Of course this is speculation and not based on rumors, but I was trying to think of what opfor they'd put in the next launch box to face off against whatever new funny-named Space Marines we get, and the range most badly in need of a revamp is Drukhari. All the others have been redone fairly recently (in the last 5 years).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2024: 40 | Total models painted in 2025: 29 | Current main painting project: Tomb Kings

Da feth? Actually cool Ultramarines? Was this the result for Dark Eldar getting gutted, some dark sacrifice?

Why can't they redo Sicarius in his wolverine look? He actually looked kind of cool back then.

Perhaps when I said "moving the goal post", that tone sounded offensive to you. I didn't think I was rude, and I apologize if I came across that way. I don't know, maybe you're having a bad day. Part of me want's to continue to try and be polite to you and give you the benefit of the doubt, because we've had respectful conversations in the past and because everyone has bad days... And also because disappointment IS justified here.

But another part of me really wants you to grow the feth up and chill the feth out. If someone doesn't explain themselves as well as you'd like, or if they say something you disagree with or want to push back against, going right to "You're a disingenuous liar" is a bit much, don't you think.

I find it puzzling that you're telling me to chill out.

I made a single, off-the-cuff comment about the Archon's Shadowfield, which I even acknowledged was a comparably minor issue (merely one that made me roll my eyes).

You were the one who couldn't let that single sentence pass and instead decided to launch into a personal attack that this comment was somehow violating my previous posts regarding the Archon's lack options. Which is odd because - quite apart from anything else - the Shadowfield mechanic is something I've expressed exasperation with in previous editions. Multiple times. I would add, too, that the main options I'd asked for for the Archon were 1) Mobility options (wings, jetbike etc.) and 2) ranged options (remember when he could take an actual Blaster?). The codex gave him 0 of either.

But apparently my noting that a bad mechanic still hasn't been addressed (and has in fact worsened due to the removal of other options), equates to "moving the goalposts".

Whatever your intent, surely you can at least appreciate why this didn't exactly come across as a good faith argument on your part?

Regardless, I honestly don't wish us to be on bad terms. We've had many polite conversations in the past and I would be sad to see that end. I was even trying to acknowledge that in my prior post by noting that a such a bad-faith argument seemed very out of character for you. I'd actually wondered if you were the one having a bad day.

Thus, if you are offering me an apology for the tone of your prior post, I am happy to accept it. I will likewise apologise if my response came across as overly angry/aggressive.

Dark Eldar monkeys paw moment.

2 new DE models must be balanced with 3 new Space Marine kits, including a character that got redone in 8th edition.

That is honestly comical - dark eldar lose more models than they gain in their codex release but here's a bunch more ultramarines because it's a day ending in Y I suppose?

I've been around long enough that I am no longer even annoyed by it, it's just funny.

..... I think I may be done with Warhammer at this point, the way even AoS models are being phased out for more Ultramarines....

Are agonisers just not a thing anymore? Are the whips on the sprues just meant to be variant power weapons now? Or maybe its vice-versa, since the Kablite power weapons have the traditionally agoniser-like ability of anti-infantry, whereas the Archon has that trait on their actual agoniser, and their power sword is just Strength 4.

Those are some pretty nice Ultras. Not going to lie.

Why more Calgar? The one in gravis armor is not that old, and a lovely sculpt. Do I need a 3rd one? I’d rather not. Model is fine, but unnecessary and redundant. I still might get him eventually.

Sicarius is fine? I don’t particularly care for him as a character, but the model is a blinged out UM guy. I’ve already got a stupid number of captains. Unless his rules are all that an a bag of chips, probably pass. Glad he got updated, but not something I need.

Honor/Victix guard? Oh my yes. Probably 2 boxes, so one can build the characters, and the other for the basic guys. Once I’m finished with my current battle company project, I was going to get to work on the 1st company. Thes guys are just what the chapter master ordered.

Is this Calgar not just the old metal one, but looks worse? and with extra tactical rock?

Never thought i'd see the day that referring to blood angels as "ultramarines in red armor" would be an insult to the ultramarines, but here we are.

Of all things that could need a release slot... they release Ultramarines... I never supported the "all creative sculptors are at AoS and 40K only gets uninspired trash", but seeing this back to back with the DE "release"? Come on!

Every other faction loses characters because of Failcast and the 2nd most boring SM chapter gets a 2nd Version of one of its most recent character sculpts.
