When I first saw this, I thought "Ahahahahaha! Seriously?!"

But, after seeing what his idea was, along with the mechanics and thinking about the target audience, I'm thinking that it's inspired genius.

Just think how many parents are going to end up painting up MLP toys for their kids? How many are going to be able to show their kids how to paint their own?

Accessibility is the key to making a genre explode in to mainstream. This could be to war gaming what WoW was to MMOs.
For which I'd be grateful.

I can't wait to see what sort of work the fans are going to create that can't be officially implemented in the game, I'm looking to fan created rules for Hoofguns and for additional races.

I agree, this could be a great way to expand the awareness and player base of table top gaming. Start with an RPG, slowly introduce miniatures, and boom! New blood.

LoL, and basic classes are already laid out- Pony, Pegasus, and Unicorn. With the ultimate prestige class of Alicorn. Oh, and Bison barbarians and Zebras.

More like Yaks are Barbarians, possibly both are going to count in the same race?

MLP Roleplay? I remember a Rogue Trader campaign where I had a daemon of Tzeentch troll the crew by changing them into various things like lamps, hats and then ponies (There was a table I made for it). The Seneschal failed his willpower after being changed into a pony then commited suicide after thinking he was part of a chaos scheme (which he was).

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

PONYFINDER is also a thing.

Personally, I think it is a smart move. MLP has already begun to tap the 'build your own pony' market with customizable figures.

Adults do Pen&Paper RPGs, Adults become Parents, Kids want to Pen&Paper RPG and there is often a large gap from a 5-year old who can start and a tween who can really handle full-on D&D.

Untapped market as well as a gaming 'gateway drug'. MLP especially the new stuff can encompass boys and girls if done right as it has a pretty decent bestiary and lore to worldbuild from. Would also make awesome figs, either in pre-painted mini figs or full-on paint-n-play plastics.

My Tabletop RPGs already accepts ponies to help provide inclusion for more gamers, especially kids.

When you have a universe with Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Demons, Undead, Elementals, Beasts and Beastmen, it doesn't take much to accept that there are sentient magical horses around. Cool models and good stories go a long way to working things out.

Excellent! I' foresee GMing this a lot. It's perfect for our local gaming club that does a lot of inclusive work to get more kids and females interested in the hobby.

And all of my family are already MLP-fans and geeks, and there are enough of us to have a decent adventurer group ;-)

I think it's Tails of Equestria, actually.

There was already a My Little Pony TCG if I'm not mistaken so I guess this shouldn't be that weird, but still...

Anyway, no models, either. Apparently the idea is you buy your figures from Hasbro.

Odd that WotC/D&D didn't do the RPG, but I guess River Horse isn't a bad company to step in and do it.

I'll be willing to pick up a copy; It'll fit right in with Secrets of Cats, Mouseguard and Cute & Fuzzy Siezure Monsters (Pokemon).

Now, if they'd do an official G.I. Joe and/or Transformers RPG...

It never ends well

To be fair to MouseGuard, that setting is grim as hell and basically a medieval society where everything including the weather will kick your ass.
Burning wheel was a very good choice... It just depends how easily you can get over playing as an animal, or if it kills the game for you.

Interesting. As a dad, it's the same situation like when I was thinking about making some sort of very somple boardgame/ RPG to use my son's Playschool Star Wars figures (the chibi ones where the weapon is part of the hand so it can't be lost/swallowed). Unfortunately, it's a little preemptive as he's only a toddler righr now!

As said above, sounds like a good idea like Herokids is.
