Hi everyone,

Need some ideas on how to create a base for Mephiston.
I'm trying to make it seem like blood is rising from the floor, like he's channelling.
It'll be on a centurion sized base. Any ideas would be great.

All I have now in mind is either sticking transparent fishing lines and put green stuff as droplets on it or just use green stuff ad make a swirling wave around the mini.

Liquitex heavy gloss gel matte medium is great for this type of thing. You can mix it up with various red shades to make it look great. If wont hold up a model or anything but its pretty flexible and durable.

Armorcast do a range of cinematic effects, ostensibly they're for depicting fire coming out of a gun muzzle, but there's a variety of shapes and sizes and, correctly painted, they could work?

An easy way would be with citadel textured paint. Put it on really thick (about 1mm). You can use a sculpting tool to make patterns if you want. Wash and drybrush as normal when dry. Then you have a few ways of going about the blood, keep adding layers of thinned blood for the blood god until you get the depth you want, or tamiya clear red thinned with isopropyl alcohol. You might need to carefully drybrush the tops of your texturing again if you overdo either. Alternatively, gloss varnish the textured area, then pin wash with red ink/glaze/wash. It will run straight into the crevices without colouring the tops. Coat again with satin varnish to seal in the paint, and maintain the blood slick sheen.

If you mean blood actually rising from the ground and into the air, I'd try something like this, although it's purely speculative. Use PVA or maybe a more voluminous clear glue and mix it with tamiya red, and apply it around a smooth cylinder slightly larger in diameter than your mini. Something like a clay roller or a PVC pipe or the like. Apply in a circle all the way around the cylinder, and use enough that it starts to flow downward a bit and dry that way. Once dry, carefully remove it and apply what will likely be a few pieces of your cylinder upside down around the base, so you end up with a cylinder of blood dripping up into the air around your psyker.
