That is a very generic question. Can you elaborate a little deeper? Which weapons are you looking for?

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

I presume you mean 40k. And as Tactical_Spam said, you're going to need to be a bit more specific.

Boltguns are described as having a "roar" when fired. The Fire Warrior video game has them sound like a small volcano.

Lasguns IIRC have a sizzling crack, rather than a pew pew.

Shootas sound like large calibre heavy machine guns that go "Dakkadakkadakkadakkadakka"

'Imperium weaponry' could mean literally anything from a stubber to a volcano cannon. you're going to have to be more specific.

Well 90% of the "imperial weaponry" in space would be silent

I believe the interactive codexs or some kinda thing from black library had weapon sound effects.

Indeed. If we merge all Imperial forces together there are hundreds of weapons, all of which would sound different.

I mean meltas and las weapons and the like I was kind of thinking would a melta gun sound like thunder since it heats the air in front of it?

Well a laser wouldn't really make a sound... the mechanics or heat sinks might steam a bit depending on the moisture in the air. there would probably be a pop at the receiving end as material is vaporized.

melta would probably be some kinda woosh. IIRC its super heated gas and microwaves or something.

Not lasrifles, though. They have a distinctive "crack" sound to their discharge.

It says specifically in the books that they make a cracking noise.

I would assume Meltaguns make an enormous racket... I would say it would sound like thunder

"Space Marine" the game, I've found to be my favored interpretation of many imperial weapons. Expecially the Bolters, and Chainsword.

As for IMperial Guard artillery, might as well look at any real world Arty. Same goes with tanks using ballistic weapons (battle cannon and the lot).

DoW1 and 2 have good effects but not the greatest.

Bolters have been described as a "bang-whoosh-bang", the initial charge launching the round, the rocket propellant then engaging, followed by the explosive payload of the round detonating.

Plasma and melta would make a high-pitched screech of the air superheating around it.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

The laser itself no.

But any laser weapon powerful enough to cause instant lethal damage to a human target is going to need some major cooling systems, which will likely make noise. Plus the "impact" will result in instant flash boiling of the unfortunate victim's flesh, which will result in a loud pop(and most certainly a small explosion).

Melta weapons also don't make any noise with the projectile. However again the super heated air the beam passes through will make a noise, very much like a woosh. The target will vaporize/melt in a very messy fashion.

I'd imagine the powered up lasgun would make more of a whir or whine, and it's the discharge of energy/change in the air as the bolt leaves the barrel that makes the cracking noise.
