Ive been hearing around that the Profile for the Transcendant C'Tan in the Escalation book is now Invalid due to the Necron Codex being the most updated rules for it.
Does this mean the Profile in Escalation are now Invalid?

Possibly. For a tournament, you would need to ask the TO. For friendly games, check with your opponent.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/PDF/Errata/Warhammer_40000/Escalation_EN.pdf
There is an errata talking about page 34 stating:
"The datasheets presented in this book describe units with the Lords of War Battlefield Role. These can be included in your army as described in Chooseing an Army section of warhammer: 40,000 the rules....."
I see this as proof enough that you can still use the old T C'tan but that still varies from game to game and tourny to tourny.

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case. |

Exact same topic from a week ago.
Just looked at that thread, it seems that in the BRB (as well as the FaQ)
The FaQ states that the LoW C'Tan is counted as being in the Necron Codex, and the BRB states that i must declare what ruleset im using (the Escalation one) and 'Lords of War in Warhammer 40,000' States that the LoW is considered to be part of the Codex it is chosen from
Judging by all this, in summary the LoW C'Tan CAN be used, however you must declare it (and obviously only use only one Transcendant C'Tan in the army as they are unique)

That faq pre-dates the Necron codex. Can you field it. RAW : yes In tournaments: Depends on the rule set, you can't use it if they have a you must use the newest version etc in their rule set. In casual play: Only if you like to lose friends. The Escalation version is one of the most OP units ever made for the game. It has a really low point cost for its stats, an insane amount of D damage output and is small enough to be able to hide from line of sight in most games.

RAW : yes
Only as much as using a previous version of a unit over a current one would be allowed.
Most of this is player and game organizer perspective, though, that a more current book will replace earlier versions that are added in.
So, T C'tan is transplanted from Escalation, but is still superceded by the MC C'tan entry just like the Obelisk and Tesseract Vault would be.
If someone is looking for a challenge, bring it up, but do not expect to use it without a discussion first.

The escalation version is a bunch more points with the best upgrades though so it's kinda fair to allow it as a lord of war.

Anyone who has ever faced one will disagree on that "fair" part it isn't even fair in most appoc games . Automatically Appended Next Post: For 780 points you get a gargantuan creature T9 model that is about 3/4 the size of a Wright and can easily hide from line of sight behind most GW terrain. It moves 18" ignoring all terrain and models. All models under the line get a str D hit. That is models get hits not units. This alone makes it one of the more powerful models in the game. On top of that it does have 2 Hellstorm D templates those things are 16.5”long 5" wide flamers of no armour saves, no cover saves and S D nastiness. There is nothing in the game close to the power level of this monster outside of the FW titans who cost thousands of points.

It is worth noting that the movement, at least, is an AP- D hit so it allows armour saves unless it rolls a 6.
