Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knew why the forgeworld IW breastplates have a star on them? I'm guessing it's to do with the eye of terror and the fact Perty can almost always see it, but have seen nothing solid on it yet. @.@

I think many iron warrior players have been asking this since they came out. I know someone who speculated it had something to do with their pre primarch culture.

I personally just use death guard torsos TBH.

They're much closer to the ideal really, like the only IW armour parts I've seen that look decent are the termie plates..

I think the anomaly that Perturabo always sees in the heavens is the Maelstrom, from what I've read in Angel Exterminatus.

But yes, I don't care for them, just a boxy, spartan chest plate is good, and paint hazard stripes on it.

Pre-Heresy IW are not ornamental in their battledress etc, which is not to say they aren't masters of artifice and craftsmanship, but they just have a very utilitarian approach to their gear.

The helmets are weird looking too. And the most of the shoulder pads look like ETs skull.

Overall the upgrade sets for Iron Warriors are a hot pile of garbage. I think the standard Mk II or MK III chests and helmets are way better than the legion specific ones. I'd even say that the Iron Hand helmets are better.

No, it's the eye of terror. Pert is even the one that names it the eye of terror in that book.

It's also stated the pre pert iron warriors were accomplished warriors and had a lot of martial pride. The reason pert decimated his own legion is because his commanders were being idiots who would run off trying to earn personal honor and getting their troops masacured then trying to function as a proper army.

Pert would throw his men into aeat grinder, but the difference was that he was doing it to win.

His commanders were throwing their men into a meat grinder so they could brag about what good comanders they were. Alot of these commanders bassicly got the job because they were born from Nobel houses.

Pert demoted a lot of his more prideful commanders into common solders to humiliate them.

My biggest question is why the heck are the belt buckles off center? To show the Iron Warriors are 2cool and 2hip to wear their belts correctly?

I think FW were going for the effect of having them not overly-ornamented, but also not wanting to ignore them and making IW players feel left out. For my BaC marines I've ignored the resin parts for the moment, and I think I might continue to do so unless I see a particular torso set that appeals to me (I'll have to go back to the DG and IH ones).

In my humble opinion, the bits I'd use for Iron Warriors would be:

- Iron Warriors heads (Veterans)

- Iron Hands heads (Havocs)

- Imperial Fists heads (Heresy, I know, but work for Breachers and Veterans)

- World Eaters torsos (close assault troops of any sort)

- Death Guard torsos (Breachers and Havocs)

However normal troops I'd give unadorned armour to - no need for ornamentation amongst the Warriors of Iron.

They''re not off center, it's the torso that's twisted. When you assemble the model with the buckle appropriately centered above the cod-piece, then the torso is shifted appropriately for the model to be in more of a firing pose.

Because an Iron Warrior who isn't firing is no Iron Warrior at all.

Huh. I didn't know power armored breastplates rotated independently of the belt.
