Odd question but how long of wait is shipping from them to you? More curious then anything, plus agree with Alph...linky.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Ok, I totally failed taking pics of the wolves, but trying again when I have some IG to show.
But here's a WIP shot of the IG squad. They will get a similar treatment as the sergeant, hand painted markings and warning chevrons to guns All the raw, fluid and pale philosophies as before, and a clear 2nd edition flavor.
And some 40mm bases thatI will build into objective markers. Also a 60mm base for "something" and new Tamya Sponge brush that I use quite a bit for different weathering effects. (more in the TWAR project you see in my gallery) The metal heads are cool zombie faces that somehow formed into an image of hideous bronze masks for a future =I=munda gang. Since like 2002 I've done an =I=nquisitor of some kind, with a retinue, almost annually... so Maybe these turn into =I= Haag's own stormtrooper kill team, or merc kill team considering how Rogue his status is after Jade Vessel. I also got the same sponge brush from here, realy nice.

I use GW white primer. Have tried Vallejo and a few others, but noticed very little advantages. GW white can be risky, I have had a few bad ones over the years, but it really bonds with the plastic beautifully. I then wash the models with Vallejo game color white.
The heads are War or the Roses, with resculpted helmet shape, which will be much clearer with paint. I slapped the first layer of green on them today, and thought I'd take some WIP pics. This models communicate well how watercolorly, amateurish looking, and free the process is - and how little margin for error I have after certain point as I cannot fix with over paint, only with weathering! You only see if it works very late, unlike with doing flat base color and then shade and HL as is common.
Thanks Emperor for battle damage and dirt!
I use the sponge mostly for soot and rust effects, mixing pastes from paints, thinners, pigments and what not. I sometimes use Tamya weathering compunds and add some mig or vallejo pigments or modeling pastes in for texture. The only down sie is, you won't reach recesses, so a good shading has to be made first, last or in between.
For chipping I use ripped foam and pincers.

They are not for this project - rather the =I=munda team or future =I=munda group. I mentioned, I will make them into masks/helmets, so they can be slightly larger. Size-wise they are the size of cadian IG sergeants head. That's how big most GW heads are.

Schedule update / re tournament
February goals:
- Finish the squad Spades
- build 5 desert operators to join some of the dunetwists for 3rd vet squad.
- build as much of squad Dons as possible.
In March paint those remaining 15 infantry, then April and May for a crazy build of 7 vehicles and airbrushing them factory style, but without skipping on quality.
The week in June before the tournament: Display base.
Totally doable - but then this weekend and start of the week I have again been unable to touch the brush. Too much work and family stuff

Got all the equipment pouches and boots base coated. All the pants and jackets are completely done. Armor and guns and it's on to the fun stuff, ie. Everything after the basecolors which for these models are many and in fiddly places.
( as a complete side note, painting nine guys at a time really is impossible to many GD win calibre painters!! It really is a fundamental difference, though not many of them realize it at all. I also have friends who comment this stuff with a filter similar to their work when they paint at most 9 guys in a year )

For us budding artists in the wargaming world who are inspired by your project it's hard to cut down and take time to make our toy-soldiers as characterful as yours. It's hard to find a balance between productivity and the vision in your head.

For the first time time in ages, Hammers been super energetic on the 40k front, it is really helping me too. I've now got all but one base color in place and shaded for washes and inks phase. So everything I do with paint is there sans markings that are coming next. after which it is time for pics.
I have an urge to build the desert spec ops, heavily inspired by Afghan operations, but finishing stuff is of paramount importance when you have a goal like we do! I plan to raise the bar a bit with the desert ops as I will only make five. I also need to find a good balance with modern day reference and that peculiar 40k visual layer that is quite something different.

Papa Nurgle has tried to stall my work with a vicious stomach flu. I just got well again and am off to a business trip tomorrow. I have started to paint the markings and have a pic of the squad sans wash and weathering to show how crucial they are for this style. Already waiting for next week and finally getting the squad done. Hopefully it's been worth the wait. Finishing 9 guys is a 50% increase on my force, so it should feel great.

Deeply admire your work. Period.
On the discussion about concept/vision/productivity/quality: Imo the biggest problem here is that one needs to have a wide variety of skills most people would be happy to have one of. There are those rare hobbyists where everthing comes together. It's just like in every other discipline of arts, you have your prodigies and you have your normal guys. The key is hard work, iron will will finally take you there. 只要功夫深铁杵磨成针。 You just need to work hard to grind an iron rod to a needle.
Let's grind...
