Did Fulgrim Just Behead Ferrus?

I don't know how example the Alpha Legion would do this, but I imagine it would be very similar to how the Night Lords do it as explained in Soul Hunter. They are surviving and loot equipment from their defeated enemies. In the older background material (2nd and 3rd edition Chaos Codeci) it was mentioned that the Alpha Legion sought to challenge itself by fighting against other Adeptus Astartes forces. Perhaps they now also do it to get new equipment and geneseed.

Exactly.

There really are no traitor marines here.

10th/January/11 Tournament Plans & Painting animals.

99.9% of the Imperial Galaxy has never even seen a space marine - to them they are legend, gods of war - and should they see one, it's not like they go asking for id. The imperium has totally and successfully denied and "forgotten" the Heresy.

This operation and this planet, albeit under scrutiny and conclave, is still legit, proud and resourceful part of the Imperium.

...and I'm 90% done with the wolves and moving soon to few more guardsmen.

It's been a lot of fun to paint animals! No equipment pouches or skewed positions and small details in their mouths/eyes make all the difference. It'd be great to do some interesting rough riders at some stage.

Elsewhere, I hear rumors the GK dex might be postponed for allowing the second wave of De released earlier. De have been a big financial success. I hope this is proof for GW to really sift emphasis from Marine releases to properly cater Necrons, Tau and IG(infantry) next.

This may mean that for the tournament I mentioned (Chaos Boyz tournament in May - the premiere tournament pioneers and great friends from UK GT trips in the past, who are coming back from retirement to host an event that will be about celebrating the hobby, not just the gaming, so possibly quit suitable for this project) I would stick to Codex IG. I soon need to decide and start building more Vendettas and tanks. Oh how I miss gaming and taking this lot to field of battle one day will be extremely special.

Here’s the list I am currently building towards:

Forgot to say:

If you can find the points the SC gunnery sergeant Harker would be a good upgrade for a vet squad, allowing you to use the HB Alpharius.

I had him in the first list - but the lone infantry squad felt weak in the overall concept - so likely he'll be used in home games.

The only really new "entry" to Codex IG will be Legion Cell, that is a mix between marines and humans and a choise of special abilities to buy.

You put words and pictures (in and along a vision) to what I've always felt modelling/painting/playing is and should be.

You've really helped me focus on the more interesting aspects of the hobby. Thanks for that.

Keep it up!

16th/January/11 Murdermake!

While I’ve been painting the two Dune Wolves, I’ve fittingly been reading Prospero Burns - VINTAGE ABNETT! (If you don’t get the book, you don’t get 40k.) It’s been a great inpiration for this project to have the best 40k writer write the books of my two favorite Legions. As always, he goes long and wordily in the beginning and almost has to fast forward the end, but what a finale it is. Some of his creative ideas, characters and plot line is simply stunningly suitable for the subject matter and pushing it’s boundaries This is the best kind of BL activity, and a clear evidence they should really have contained the HH series and only allowed a few writers pen it. If you haven’t read the book yet, the rest of the blog entry may contain some spoilers!

Like with the best of HH series, again with Propero Burns, you have a feeling of reading something secret, of being privileged to witness the fabric from which this universe/hobby springs from. For so long the Heresy was shrouded in myth, with glimpses and a clear outline, but all the detail missing. Abnett takes the opportunity to widen our view of the universe and imperial institutions beyond just the matters of military - and paints a wicked, feral and ultimately fresh, albeit still totally fitting vision of the 6th.

What is the single most interesting take for this project?

The fact Emperor created his Legions different to be the best for a specific role. Some where to forge Imperial Defenses, some to Lead it’s armies, some to brake enemy bastions, some to be his terror troops. But The Wolves? The 6th Legion were made to be his Executioners!

Cunning, savage hunters so feral and ruthless they would execute Emperor’s most difficult decisions. Reliable like dogs, and man to man the most able fighters of all Astartes.

The Lone Legion. The Legion that would, if need be, sanction other Legions.

When the Emperor had carefully considered all aspects of military strategy and tactical solutions he had one role reserved for insurance. The Rogue Agent, an unorthodox creative, the 20th Legion, a virus of war.

The XX Factor.

Hi Migsula, nice to see your still thinking about the legion. Looking forward to what you produce next.

I don't know if your familiar with the B&C Dornian heresy. It's as the name implies an alternate version of the heresy, where the legions take opposite positions the what they did in the original heresy. They just released the Alpha legion's IA: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showtopic=155430&st=387 bottom of the page. It gives an interesting view on the ending of Legion.

Thanks for the link sir!! I'll look into it.

SMALL UPDATE:
Dune Wolves finished, I bought and ordered all the needed components to finish the squad of Spades, to do the Don's squad, and to do the 5 Desert Operations veterans all ready for painting. That's then all of the infantry models, after which the rest of spring is dedicated to armor and airbrushing. I am now pushing everything not in the list for later - so Adeptus Mechanicum for example is in stasis at the moment

I also ordered a bunch of stuff from CMON shop for scenario targets and spice. I quess a display board is a must too.

The Tournament was pushed back to mid June which is great news.

Hurrah!! Today was great news - My Perry miniatures War Of The Roses models arrived and the heads are perfect for my guard. They fit my small head fetish (ie important visual cue to art) perfectly, and with the extra helmet bulk I am sculpting will not be too small or significantly stand out from the citadel heads ( which I've carefully picked for their small size and further filed down when possible.

This is also very very good news, as my GS skills aren't up to sculpting human faces yet.

So today I've been dryfitting and planning and tomorrow glue and GS and then prime. Give me a week from that and I finally promise pictures.

Sculpting done on the IG squad and squad primed. My "GS oven" (lamp) was a little hot and made the GS sweat oddly in places, so I had to really carefully cut it afterwards here and there. Painting starts tonight.

You know you say all of this stuff get's done but the point of a P&M is to show pics from time to time you know migs. You do great work I just wish you would show it more then just tell people.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Pretty much this guys!

Give him a break - his stuff is epic, but I'm sure he has a 'real life' too.

He's always posted pics when he has them... no need to rush greatness.

Thanks for support. It's good to have Legion brothers watching out your back.

I'll do my best to snap a few WIP shots tonight or tomorrow. I got a CMON store order in for objective markers and other cool stuff, so I can share those too. And show the wolves.
