Overall, you're getting more miniatures than the same pledge level in Deadzone, three of those miniatures being a giant robot, flying saucer and military truck... I can't complain

For a quick comparison; Deadzone Strike Team $150 pledge finished at 82 minis and 11 terrain sprues. 1 paper mat, 1 rubber mat.

This has (so far, with the suggested loadout): 66 minis, 5 terrain sprues, 4 paper mats, 1 rubber mat, expansion book, 2 medium vehicles and one rather gigantic one.

The Martian Robot is 6.5"tall. For reference a leviathan crusader is 8.5".

So, this is roughly on a par with where Deadzone ended as far as "amount of stuff" goes, with plenty of room for more.

Oh, and they've mentioned that the vehicles will most likely be hard plastic kits since they won't be doable with their 1-piece mini production method for all the other stuff.

So I would really like to get a lot of the Martians, saucers, and robots for a counts as tau army. Do any of you have any suggestions for me that would help in determining what to pledge? I would love to do a $300 pledge but it says it is all gone.
Pledge for Invaders arrive but put the amount you pledge to $300, you can get two sets at that price.

Thanks!

I am probably going to pledge some cash to this. Right now I am thinking these martians might make a cool counts as Necron Army instead of Tau. I am thinking something like this:

Hey everyone, I have been wanting to do a martian themed army for years for some various game or another. After reviewing the KS on Mars Attacks, I am thinking I could make a pretty good counts as Necron Army with some of the martian minis. Anyways here is a rough idea of what I am thinking I could use for a Necron army. What do you all think? Any suggestions?

HQ:
Overlord = General Tor
Imotekh the Stormlord = General Tor Alternate Pose
Vargard Obyron = Martian Dredd
Trazyn the Infinite = General Zar

Troops:
Warriors = Grunts
Deathmarks = Martian Stealth Marines

Elites:
Necron Triarch Stalker = Martian Robot
Necron Lychguard / Triarch Praetorians = Martian Marines
Flayed Ones = Burning Cows? lol

Dedicated Transports:
Necron Night Scythe/Doom Scythe = Martian Flying Saucer
Necron Ghost Ark / Doomsday Ark = Martian Flying Saucer with extra bits?

Glad to see I am not the only one doing this. I have similar ideas myself, however the Saucers are not big enough for Doom/Night Scythes. They are only 80?88? mm diameter. At that size they are slightly larger that Destroyers.

My idea was to use them as Destroyers, and the commander units as Heavy Destroyers.

I am hopeful we may see a larger '4-martian' saucer, from the comics, that can be used as a Doom/Night Scythe, or Arks for that matter.

I'd like to see a big saucer too but I dunno how I'll afford one after wanting escalation x3 and 3 giant stompy robots :p

Yeah I didn't think of that. I was thinking they would be a little larger. Ok so ax that idea. Destroyers would be good.

Also it would probably be too small for a Command Barge as well right?

What about this? A Doom Saucer in place of a Doom Scythe?

From my understanding and what I have been told by those 'in the know' yes, way to small. Although I was playing with the idea of a Destroyer Lord using a Zar/Tor modified as a pilot.

Note sure what we will be able to do for Command Barges yet. Have to wait and see what still releases. Maybe have to be a custom job with a special 3man saucer or something. who knows.

Well I am pestering mantic for a larger saucer. If they doubled the size at least I could easily see $40.00 for one (MSRP being $50.00). Of course I would probably try and get three at a discount. Something like 3 for $100.00 on the KS only would be cool.

I'm not sure if there's a place for stuff that large in a game that is intended to play on a 2x2' surface with 3" squares. The truck was pushing it already.

I agree, and making one that large so folks can use it in games other than Mars Attacks seems a huge waste of resources which could be used to enhance Mars Attacks itself.

Well with all the expansions they are doing like the Escalation Expansion set, you are getting a lot more mats. Heck if you buy the expansions you end up with a ton of scenery and 8 2x2' squares. Also I have seen talk on the KS page about bigger games.

Well, there's an expansion for 4x4 play.

Have not had a look at the KS for a few days, this has stalled quite badly. I had assumed that the robot would have been funded by now. Anyone care to speculate why it has levelled off so severely?

That said in context the project is still nearly funded 9 times over.

Because Mantic made us pledge a lot up front and the stretch goals haven't really caught up with the money already pledged yet, so there's no reason for backers to raise their pledges.

I would assume if things stall out for longer than Mantic would like, we might see some new stuff showing up to generate a bit more buzz.

There's always the lure of new terrain to draw in more pledge dollars.

I gotta echo the point of having a super giant mothership. While a cool piece of tabletop decoration, it doesn't seem like the wisest use of resources.

Myself, I'd much prefer to see a Dinosaurs Attack! mini expansion. Everyone could use an AI deck controlled pack of dinos rampaging across random battlefields.

Well not really a giant mothership, just something larger than the little saucer we are getting.

I think there is room for the larger saucer regardless. In the larger game, the larger saucer would be fine. Also, there is a lot of talk of martians becoming a list for Warpath, and the larger ship would totally fit into that.

I am of course always willing to build something custom on the same style of design. just will need to figure out a clear domed top for it.

I think a stall was always going to happen, given the explosive start this KS got and as others have said little incentive to pledge more at the moment.

That said the robot is not that far off and once done I still think we will see the start of a new faction - bugs?? - and the monies will rise again.

Multi box basic grunt options, new terrain packs and or new designs for the deluxe map could also be a winner. Possibly paint sets could figure in as mini goals

Deadzone took off in its last week and this is likely to be similar.

One worry is now we have the giant robots what will the $1 million target be? Possibly the giant saucer everyone is asking for?

Let them make the large saucer for Warpath during the Warpath kickstarter. There is still a lot of stuff which will fit in the 2x2 or 4x4 Mars Attacks they can expend resources on.

Is it me or are they trying to shift backers from the early bird pledge levels who have pledged for multiple sets?

Liking the new extras for people pledging over $300 & $500 as I am already at that level.

I just don't get $300 for a board game.

Sticking at my $140

I will most likely end up at $140 + the upgraded counters (civilians, cows, saucer joe, car, giant bugs) since I feel like those will properly add to the fun of the basic game if minis can be used instead of card counters.

Wouldn't mind the attack from space set either, so it's likely that I'll add a little bit but not too much.

I'm sticking to those two $50 add ons so far For the Bot/Saucer/Trukk - then adding those four characters for $20

Leaves me a massive $5

It's only half way through, most mini ks' are a u-shape in terms of funding. Big at the start, big at the end, steady during the mdiddle. they've found their daily go-rate at about $3-5K per days, with one or two hiccups, but it's going great guns. who'd have thought before this had begun that a 50 year old license would attract nearly half a million dollars.bet they're pleased.

Alien Abduction looks really sweet.

The only way they will get more money out of me is if a $140 EB opens up. Money is TIGHT and every penny I can spare is a good penny! (although I will probably get the martian dredd, so I might add 12 dollars to my 90 dollar pledge)

I'd like to see this evolve into a base tabletop game from Mantic. Even more then it is now.
