No overlapping plates, the back of the legs is a smooth surface with division lines merely scored into it (making it look like there's 2" gaps between armour plates), there is one lone rivet in the middle of the thigh back, and there are no rivets on the back of the torso proper, they remain only on the belt and butt flap.

I suppose this might be old news to anyone who has some of the modern Mk3 heroes but it was new to me.

It looks like it'd be "fixable" if you did a bit of careful filing, but feth that. But as you say, doesn't bode well at all for any incoming MkII kits, which is a shame.

Decided I quite like the extra armour on the top of the backpack vents/thrusters on the new traitor consul that is up for pre-order today:


And wondered if I could do the same for my next mkiii squad, and then realised the extra vambraces you get in the new kit are almost perfect to use for this - needs a tiny bit of shaving off of some cables to get them to fit, but I think it looks pretty damn close:

Cool mod for Breachers and Destroyers in particular. I do enjoy the extra beefiness of even the default new Mk3 backpack. Best part of the kit.

These guys look cool. I agree that the detail is oversimplified in places, but I still quite like the new Mk III models.

I was doing a bit of a clearout when I came across some WiP Space Wolf models I started over 10 years ago. I was about to toss them when I had a better idea - why not finish them as Heresy-era models instead? Here are the initial results - a MkIIc Rhino and Vindicator rebuilt with Heresy bits. Maybe they are prototypes, or were scavenged from the battlefield and repaired with available parts.

I also converted Ulric the Slayer into a Speaker of the Dead, putting the original model onto some MkIV legs.

Thanks! The original Vindicator kit always looked a bit unfinished, IMO.

Mostly done assembling my first Deredeo.

Nice wee kit, and I massively appreciate the hip joints have a socket fit to get the pose right.

I don’t seem to have had the same problem as others when gluing on the upper sarcophagus bits. However, rather than glue the two halves, then glue them to the rest, I glued the right hand (facing you) to the main torso, then the left hand. And it worked quite nicely.

In terms of magnetising the weapons, it does look very easy, and it has pre-sunk holes for the right size of magnet. Which is nice of them, Spesh as I think we can reasonably expect the other weapons to be released as a full kit, and a weapon kit.

Overall it’s a really nice addition to the range.

Cleaned mold lines from 30 Mk3 at work today

I'd have built them too but it's gotten too cold to air the place without people noticing.

This takes me up to 15 Cats now. These ones are magnetised so I can swap weapon load outs as needed.

Built 30 Mk3 bodies on bases and the first Dorito (no guns yet). Got the front body together okayish, thanks to MDG and others' tips. Might do some work to pose the arms Sunday.

The Deredeo body actually goes together quite well. Only a couple of very fine gaps to fill. I just followed the instructions, and cleaned up all the parts carefully.

For clarity, I used the fancy pants upper torso, with the Aquila Wings and scrollwork.

I know the three options should be identical, but clarity is clarity!

And I used the chaos trim!

Well the first Dorito is fully built, I kept the original arm pose as I just can't be arsed to force bend the cables.

I made some progress on my Space Wolves. Really enjoying getting some paint onto these old models.

Build the other 30 bodies on bases, so I have 60. Now we play the most dangerous game. Waiting for specialist wargear. I don't care if from GW or a 3d print sculptor. I just know nobody expects White Scars Breachers.

Get some epic scale bikers and put them on the bottom of their shields and or feet like they're on little roller skates. Fastest Breachers in the imperium.

Reducing my pile of shame by building Alpharius, Cataphractii praetor of the AL because snazy, and 10 lerneans converted to have plasblasters.

Only 30 MK III Hoplites, 2 deredeos, 2 rhinos and 2 proteusi left to build. And an Ikea piece of furniture for more storage of my multitude of armies.

I have been continuing with my Heresy Space Wolves. The vehicles are all back-dated WH40k models that I’ve had lying around for years (see above for the Rhino and Vindicator). The latest to join the motor pool is this Land Raider, which I assembled about 15 years ago for a Salamander army that never went anywhere. It's new weapons are all surplus pieces from Heresy kits - I think the 'over and under' twin lascannon look better than the original side-by-side configuration. I still need to source some of the OOP FW Space Wolf Rhino doors so I can decorate the sides with the oversize icons. As I was re-working it, I was reminded what a wonky model this Land Raider is. Nothing is quite lined up, and there are gaps everywhere. But it still looks cool, and I had to find a place for it in my Heresy stuff.

I also built this Space Wolf Deredeo. It still needs a few more wolfy charms and pendants added to it, but it's basically done.
