My local he manager, who I've known for 10 years, came back from Dallas. They had a he manager conference. I want to make a 7th edition nurgle army for 40k. He suggested I get started, although they only have the 6th edition codex. He knows I like to convert and paint (very well) my whole army. Then he said the store would have a 40k tournie in August, and by September the 7th edition chaos codex should be out. He said adding "hint, hint, but you didn't hear that from me." Wink.

He's dropped hints in the past, and each time they were right. Hope this is true....

Considering that we've been told multiple times by different reliable sources that they won't get a dex until early 2017, good luck with that. Managers don't usually know anything beyond what's coming out in 2-3 weeks if that.

Alledgedly the 2nd part of Fenris is out late Q2/early Q3 along with new Thousand Sons models, but beyond that, that's not even rumours, only wishlisting.

Let's not forget that the manager wants you to buy from the store so they might say anything just to get a sale from you.

Kinda like how everytime I've gone into the store to get painting stuff all the broken powers that SM got were described as 'fun' by employees and the new Ork Flyer Box gives you four models as opposed to three which justifies the 67% price hike.

Well, let's put him to the test. He also said the 100 or so managers at the Dallas event this week saw a preview of something entirely new and that has yet to be leaked. GW will real ease a teaser trailer this weekend. That's all he said.

As someone else mentioned, the most reliable rumormongers have said early-mid 2017 for a new CSM codex.

Probably the war hammer quest game trailer that just hit that has been in the inn the leeks for weeks

do you mena CSm as I thought Chaos specifically has stuff in the works. I'm still thinking we might see a KDK style release for the rest of the pantheon at some point this year and a codex CSM next year as per rumours.

Chaos Marines won't get anything more than a re-print of their current rat turd book, because heaven forbid Loyalists might just lose again to the "bad guys". Can't have that happening again!

Mind you, what Chaos really needs, is a complete Dark Eldar level 100% overhaul, since the rules are unplayable, and even worse, the entire model line beyond 3 kits is an entirely unsalvageable dumpster fire...
But instead, we're likely to get yet another Codex Marines release, because... 'screw Chaos'.

As far as the most reliable rumorologists have said, expect nothing new for CSM in the short run. There has been some talk about a new Rubric Marines kit in the second half of the year, perhaps with updated rules, perhaps not.

Considering the current trend of 40k releases (book campaigns, supplements) and the fact that CSM just got two nearly-useless updated supplements, I consider it unlikely that CSM will get a new codex this edition.

Oh boy! We get to be the first test bed codex yet AGAIN!

This way, GW can see everything that won't work with an MEQ army, so they can ensure that Loyalists will work as efficiently as possible...
Maybe we'll at least get upgraded finally to 6th edition points costing, and then we'll at least only be 3 editions out of date instead of 5!

Well, we've managed to 'win' the test bed lottery on our past two codices...

But honestly, I'm setting my expectations bar at Chaos getting squatted at this point. After over a decade of being regarded as only being the punching bag of 40k, I'm not going to give GW any trust. Which is a shame, because they did do such an amazing job with Daemons, especially the complete re-invention of them through our 6th ed codex.

But then, I also still hold resentment for how GW caved into the Whinny Marines and pandered to Loyalists by completely retconning the entire Eye of Terror campaign out of existence, just because we won.

It's just the old codex with the new datasheets tacked on at the end. Literally, same file with the extra stuff, even has the old psychic powers.
